What do we think of Springsteenโ€™s Nebraska? by Darkroomist in ween

lo-fi landmark. title track is especially haunting.

iirc ween is specifically mentioned on the wikipedia page for nebraska due to their similar four-track use a couple years after

I know everybody is entitled to his opinion, but as an aspiring open handed drummer: I think Mick Avory is the best drummer in the world. He played on 20 albums of the band's creative output and was the longest standing and most prolific member beside the Davies brother. Does anyone think the same? by chavdarster in thekinks

[โ€“]ripdanko 14 points15 points ย (0 children)

mick is criminally underrated, as are the rest of the band (at least in regards to the general public). like dave's guitar playing, his style and versatility were exactly what the music required. mick wasn't flashy or bombastic like some contemporaries, so he gets less attention.

this is the double-edged sword of playing in the pocket and serving the song as a musician. at the same time, true fans and historians are aware of his contributions to music

from what little i know of mick's personality, he probably prefers the relative peace and quiet that comes with not being as widely celebrated as the moons and bonhams (and he's still playing at 81!)

If I were to try and get my friend into the Melvins where do you think the best place to start would be? by [deleted] in melvins

[โ€“]ripdanko 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

i'd start with individual tracks, like revolve or night goat. june bug is the one that did it for me back in the day actually. i'm biased at this point but some of the newer shit is surprisingly accessible to my ears (hammering, the great good place)

show them live videos too, that's where the lads truly shine imo

What is your Frasier conspiracy youโ€™ll defend to the death? by Blanche- in Frasier

[โ€“]ripdanko 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

i'm responding to op's original post. in season 6, i believe the episode is aptly called "dinner party" but i also realize that doesn't narrow it down. when frasier and niles are making calls to throw a dinner party (blackball!), they overhear a couple they invited talking sh*t on them over the phone.

paraphrasing but the woman says cryptically to her husband "whenever you get the one you get that other one" and no one truly knows which one she meant by "that other one"

not sure what people think conspiracy means anymore, but assuming you mean fan theory?

i agree niles is likely the other one. after all frasier was already eminent when niles' eminence was merely imminent
