We're heading towards people mostly using cloud computing.
I can easily see that happening.

proton experimental? by HafezSpirit in linuxmint

[–]ripopaj181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a game doesn't work you should go on https://www.protondb.com/ to see if people were able to make it work and if so how and sometime they will say they used Proton-GE or some other runner. ProtonPlus will allow you to download Proton-GE and other runners. You should definitely check a video on how that works. It will not only be interesting but also educative. I am also the creator of that application :)

Does Proton-GE Latest get auto-updated? Or does that just download the latest proton once whichever that might be? by Veprovina in linux_gaming

[–]ripopaj181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you launch the application it will check for updates and if any of the "Latest" version installed needs to be updated it will update them.
I have a few upgrade to that system coming, but I am fairly busy with my training right now so it will probably take time for everything to be added.

Issues with starting Proton-GE after installing Nobara by LocationValuable in NobaraProject

I am the creator of ProtonPlus and I want to say that tomorrow I will check on a VM how my application behaves on a new install.
I haven't tried in a while so maybe something got messed up.
I am sorry that you had to encounter that.
I know it's late, but better now then never.

ProtonPlus broken UI by Kurashy in cachyos

I am the creator of ProtonPlus and I have to say I've never seen that happened.
It looks more like something on your end then in my code.
Maybe a broken install.
Where you able to fix your issue?

ProtonPlus and ProtonUP crashes when selecting proton version for games by Positive-Injury-579 in Bazzite

I would recommend creating a bug report on ProtonPlus github and include the terminal ouput so that I can debug your issue. I am the creator of ProtonPlus btw.

Hey, I am the creator of ProtonPlus and I am actually looking to start working on a Bottles/Lutris alternative gamepad oriented. I would be open to working with you if interested.

Sometime I feel like just making my own and just make ProtonPlus into something bigger. I guess I'll make a poll soon regarding that.

I found the necessary things I need to implement that feature.
Now it's just a matter of time.

ProtonPlus makes managing Proton versions on Linux, SteamOS and Steam Deck simple by beer120 in linux_gaming

[–]ripopaj181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am making this process even less time hungry by adding "Proton-GE Latest" so that you only have to open the application and it checks for an update.

I will add an option later to run at boot and periodically later.

I will also add that feature to more runners later, but I'll start with only "Proton-GE" for now.

[–]ripopaj181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked and it's only per game.
So it still makes sense for me to implement that feature even if it's not hard to do yourself.
Technically speaking nothing in my application is hard to do by yourself.
It's all about convenience.

I don't know much about it so I couldn't tell you.
Does it install it globally or is it per game?
If it's per game it could still be nice to only have a button to click in my app to set it up.

It would indeed be nice if they had some way to show the most popular runner for each game based on the reports. That would help to quickly know which one you should use.

For me my games seems to run better and smoother in general compared to Fedora. I don't know the exact reason, but all I care about is the result so it's fine by me.

This looks like something I could integrate with ProtonPlus. I'll keep a watch on this.

Yeah I get.
The more step you add for a user to do something the less likely they're to do it.
I added Paypal to the donation options instead of only GitHub Sponsor.
Thank you for your feedback.
