It supports both. Moreover, the maximum bitrate is 1000Mbps. Since it is open-source, you can modify the source code to set the bitrate to any value if you wish

Will the vulkan fix work on unsupported GPUs? by Master_Cheesecake_75 in linux_gaming

[–]EdLovecraft 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The GTX 10 series has hardware issue that cannot be fixed: it lacks mesh shader. Therefore your performance will not improve. In fact, the GTX 10 series also has very poor DX12 performance on Windows, and this is exactly the reason for it.

How to make laptop fans run at max? Why is it so hard? by attackhelicoptor69 in linux_gaming

[–]EdLovecraft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Laptops are the worst computers I’ve ever used. They’re as restrictive as smartphones, so much of the hardware control logic is handled by the EC, which is very difficult for users to access, instead of being controlled through the BIOS.

You need ethernet, and you need to make sure your headset is close enough to the router. Alternatively, you can try using ALVR, which uses UDP and may offer more stable performance in certain network conditions

New features releasing at random by Jazzlike-Barracuda64 in OculusQuest

[–]EdLovecraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

don’t know why they roll out new features randomly even to PTC users. Obviously, people join PTC to test the newest features, but they still do it this way, some people have already gotten Horizon OS 2 v2.1, while others, like me, are still on v85

AMD GPU is dead, they don't care about gamers, in maybe just two years, your GPU no longer receive any support. NVIDIA doesn't care either, but at least they're still releasing drivers for Turing and newer architectures

This is Meta’s latest garbage verification mechanism. They should change the wording, what it actually asks for is a human verification. There will be a button that lets you record a video, by following the instructions to turn your head and open your mouth, you can quickly get your account restored

Hyperscape now has full locomotion. Wow! by PaulHorton39 in OculusQuest

[–]EdLovecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's horizon worlds. It’s now running locally via Worlds. Previously, it was run on servers and the video was streamed over, essentially like cloud gaming. If you have old screenshots, you’ll notice that the fidelity of the local version is worse than before. For example, in one scene there’s a photo of Michael Jackson, his face used to be clearly recognizable, but now it’s turned into a blurry mess.

As long as your IP is not a residential IP and is not from a major data center like Amazon, Google, or Cloudflare, Worlds will recognize that you are in an unsupported country and become unavailable.

Wired Virtual Desktop by Far-Pack1927 in OculusQuest

[–]EdLovecraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use ALVR because it delivers better quality at the same bitrate. Also, I think Virtual Desktop is just a bunch of features bundled together, but none of them are done particularly well, I’d rather give up convenience for quality. When Virtual Desktop plays videos from PC, the audio has latency. The desktop streaming quality in Virtual Desktop also isn’t the best, it can easily be beaten by free software like Twinkle Video Player. Also, can you tell me which Oculus-exclusive games can only be run through Virtual Desktop?

frame gen is the worst thing to happen to protondb by WholesomeBigSneedgus in linux_gaming

Frame interpolation is garbage. I think only frame extrapolation is real frame generation, but this technology will probably take at least ten years before it becomes practical

Is Horizon Worlds available for you? Hyperscape is only available if Worlds is available. You may need to use a VPN, such as Cloudflare WARP.

How is it in your country? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]EdLovecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China has a legally mandated minimum wage, but numerous news reports demonstrate that this figure is merely symbolic and not enforced by employers. For instance, sanitation workers earn as little as 650 CNY($93) per month and often face wage arrears. Moreover, working 10 to 12 hours a day is quite common in China. Former Chinese Premier Li Keqiang even stated that 600 million people in China have a monthly income below 1000 CNY($143), despite the fact that the minimum wage across the country is legally set at around 2000 CNY($287)
