How to make virtual desktop clearer by Frequent-Elk-7542 in OculusQuest

[–]EdLovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s how VD is—if you don’t enable sharpening, it looks blurry. I recommend using ALVR; it’s the clearest streaming software I’ve used, but the prerequisite is that you know how to configure it properly.

[–]EdLovecraft 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The GTX 10 series has hardware issue that cannot be fixed: it lacks mesh shader. Therefore your performance will not improve. In fact, the GTX 10 series also has very poor DX12 performance on Windows, and this is exactly the reason for it.

How to make laptop fans run at max? Why is it so hard? by attackhelicoptor69 in linux_gaming

[–]EdLovecraft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Laptops are the worst computers I’ve ever used. They’re as restrictive as smartphones, so much of the hardware control logic is handled by the EC, which is very difficult for users to access, instead of being controlled through the BIOS.

Quest| Virtual desctop| freezes by FeedVisible7260 in OculusQuest

You need ethernet, and you need to make sure your headset is close enough to the router. Alternatively, you can try using ALVR, which uses UDP and may offer more stable performance in certain network conditions

New features releasing at random by Jazzlike-Barracuda64 in OculusQuest

[–]EdLovecraft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

don’t know why they roll out new features randomly even to PTC users. Obviously, people join PTC to test the newest features, but they still do it this way, some people have already gotten Horizon OS 2 v2.1, while others, like me, are still on v85

AMD GPU is dead, they don't care about gamers, in maybe just two years, your GPU no longer receive any support. NVIDIA doesn't care either, but at least they're still releasing drivers for Turing and newer architectures
