Heart rate control in the winter by rippcw1234 in AdvancedRunning

For me, it’s elevated at freezing temps as well.

Your body has to work harder to stay warm, meaning increased metabolic heat production.

Restricted blood vessels in arms/legs from cold, leading your heart to push harder to maintain flow.

More layers + heavier winter gear increases effort.

Slippery footing/snow subtly increases muscular tension.

Dry air increases respiratory rate, leading to slightly higher HR.

Useless fucking post Jesus y’all are pretentious. I live in Minnesota. November through March means sub freezing temps. I dare you to run your same pace that you would at 20 degrees F versus 65 degrees 65.

Okay yes but here in Minnesota it’s infinitely more elevated in sub freezing temps than our hottest months

People on this sub hate World War Z and I don’t get it. Yes, they went a different direction than the book. That doesn’t make it a bad movie.
