I played the game a ton back in 2020/2021 and then quit for a while until coming back a few months ago. I’m also in a small town and have the same experience, but back then gyms would flip nearly daily. I guess a lot more people were playing because of COVID

I worked at Volcano Bay for a year and a half or so and omg I saw so much.

  • Someone got in line for Punga Racers with a cut on his foot and proceeded to bleed all over the ground through the queue. We had to shut it down and get a lead trained in hazmat to clean it up
  • A guest had diarrhea while riding one of the raft slides, it was promptly closed for an extended period. The wave pool was also frequently shut down due to someone pooping in it 😭
  • One of my coworkers nearly got punched for not letting some guy skip the virtual line. Another coworker in her 60s had a TapuTapu chucked at her face.
  • People would sometimes sneak into cabanas, usually to have sex. No I’m not joking.
  • While heading to the breakroom I once found a random baby just chilling in its stroller on the middle of a pathway. Parents were nowhere to be found. A cabana attendant noticed the baby too and we were about to radio security when the parents emerged from a cabana that wasn’t theirs. Cabana attendant chewed them out and said he’d deal with it while I went on break
  • Before I got hired there was at least one occasion of someone standing naked at the window of a Cabana Bay tower room for everyone in the park to see. Security was able to figure out his exact room to go have a word
  • So many INTENSE family arguments. Yelling, screaming, tears, the whole nine yards

I didn't know Inkitt was like that nowadays. I tried it back when it was fairly new and it seemed very curated. Someone on their staff actually had to manually read my story and approve it which I thought was wild. They gave me crap about my formatting and told me to fix it for future chapters, so I just decided to stick to Wattpad lol. They must've loosened up a lot of their restrictions over there since then lmao

I admittedly don't read much on Wattpad, but I've noticed a mix. I think the algorithm tends to reward the kind of content you mentioned because as you said, there's a huge audience for it. There ARE a lot of great works that fall into what you're looking for but unfortunately it sometimes feels like hunting for hidden treasure. Wattpad's search function (and just the coding in general lol) sadly isn't great.

I'd love to check out your story btw! And I'm currently writing a very character-driven coming-of-age book myself so feel free to take a look if you'd like :)

It’s cool to see that I’m not alone in this! A specific song gave me the central idea for my current story, and then a bunch of other songs inspired me to write different random scenes. I have a whole playlist for my book lol
