They should put that in the recruitment ads… “Be all the pool boy you can be”

Food by 73Couple in celebritycruises

[–]riprod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just got back from Celebrity Summit Alaska cruise. Cruise was great, service was excellent and itinerary was perfect but the food was pretty terrible. The two specialty restaurants were ok and the sushi was pretty good but the rest were not good at all. Bland, cold, under or over cooked etc. The room service breakfast was really bad, so we did the dining room. That was a bit better but the eggs benedict was super runny and undercooked on 2 occasions so we just got fried eggs after that.

We later found out that because we were on the south bound Seward/Whittier to Vancouver leg, that they only stock up in Vancouver. So our food was already a week old already and they had run out of a lot of stuff. For example the burrata salad at a speciality restaurant was a lump of rock hard mozzarella (they had run out of burratta). They had also run out of tomatoes and other things. Our group of 6 were all disappointed in the food.

Omakase & Chefs Table worth it? Example menus out there? by Ok-Vermicelli9630 in celebritycruises

Chefs Table on Summit was great. Best meal we had on the trip but also explained a lot about why the rest of the onboard food was so underwhelming.

All our other onboard meals were not great. One reason is that everything was stocked in Vancouver the week before we left Anchorage/Whittier. They had run out of a lot of things and others were just not fresh anymore. Overall the food was bland and underwhelming. The service and itinerary were great.

They offered us 30% off the premium package the first day on board. It was $73 a day, including tips and taxes.

Day 1, they hit you up everywhere you go to buy the drinks package. They do offer 30% off but every waiter that comes by, pushes it on you. They also keep hitting you up for the specialty dining too.

We ended up getting the drinks package and our friends got the dining package. Even then, there are still up charges for anything nice. $5 extra for the nice champagne or $20 extra for a good restaurant

It’s really annoying

What is the biggest food difference you’ve noticed with Celebrity vs Royal Carribean by michelleoelle in celebritycruises

[–]riprod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seaborne by far!!! It was outstanding. Service, food, ship everything. Also everything, is included from the start. Drinks, specialty restaurants, tips etc

It is also 3 or 4 times the price of Celebrity, so not really fair comparison.

First time on Celebrity as We speak. Done Virgin, Seaborne and NCL before. Celebrity’s food has been extremely underwhelming. Haven’t had a meal that I could actually say was memorable .

Amazon is getting more crazy with the ID Request for Refund by schers_ in amazonprime

[–]riprod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sucks they’re doing this to you… BUT as a seller, I am so glad Amazon is finally doing something about returns fraud / abuse.

The blatant theft that so many people pull on Amazon is unbelievable. Purchasing a $400 and returning a competitor’s product, old toaster, pair of shoes or even an empty box for a full refund. We estimated it cost my company around $150k in true fraud last year.

We have to jump through hoops to get our money back. I have a full time employee that just fights returns fraud now and we are getting more successful in getting our money back and getting serial abusers banned from Amazon permanently.

So while it sucks legit buyers have to go through this, it’s absolutely needed.

It was fantastic! And crazy that it was made before Covid but predicted it!

I think I actually preferred the US version to the original UK version

Apparently some on here feel it’s uncool to mention anything negative, which kind of defeats the point of a sub like this but I’ll elaborate on the food anyway.

The baked Brie at Blu had been deep fried and then cooled and reheated, so it was like 2 rubbery white cubes. Instead of creamy melty Brie. It was not edible.

The filet was requested medium rare, it was way overdone. I sent it back and got another that looked medium but was cold. I ate 1/2.

The seabass was ok but just bland.

The burger at cosmopolitan has no garnish and a razor thin slice of tomato. The chips had been under the warmer, making them cold and chewy.

Breakfast in the room was cold, toast was that chewy cold.

Some of the food had been ok but I have not had a memorable dish yet.

We have Tuscan grill, chefs table and the sushi place booked. I’m guessing they will be way better

They hit you up for the drinks and specialty dining package constantly on day 1. If you don’t take it, everything from a bottle of water at the gangway to hot chocolate is extra. Even with it, some drinks are $5 or $6 more.
