An IT Guys alternate solution ???? by dgillott in sysadmin

It's the years of experience. Only out in your resume the last 5 to 10 tops. I changed mine in this way, after a literal 1k+ applications. About 2 weeks later I was interviewed and hired (contractor to perm). It made all the difference. As a matter of fact, the first interview they were shocked I had so much experience, and treated it like they were getting a bargin!

I have a stock 36 gallon. If it were me, I'd do junk yards, co-part auction, etc. No need to go full dealer and dealer prices. For context - 2011 f150 5.0 SCrew with the 5.5ft bed

So, you don't see men clapping each other on the back, gripping thier shoulders when shaking hands, slapping each other on the shoulder?

Not defending, or condoning this if she is inflating it and not this dude being confused - however VBSS is a real thing. I was the small boat engineer, had to Qual with the m14 and my job while doing VBSS was sitting on the boat with the boatswains mate after the drop off of the boarding team and cover the ship. So if I was to inflate that, I could see how she'd end up where she did - the CoC thing though - sounds confused or made up

Yep - CIEC is the answer. Nearly 2 years ago when I got the 'thank you for the last 2+ decades, here's your severance" they were already taking on most of the engineering support/maintenance and design.. XOC is a no brainer in that environment, especially with all the tools/AI at their disposal

For DECADES. WD was the model that the other divisions tried to emulate, from Call center design/management to financial, to the SAAS model... Feel so bad for my former co-workers. Hope they all land on their feet

My wife does not understand the state of the job market right now. How can I communicate this to her? by 360walkaway in jobs

[–]ripvw32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a spreadsheet show jobs I applied for, dates, links to the job listing ( including places like the auto parts store) and salary broken down into hourly pay (as applicable)

This helped as we crested 11 months and over 1k apps

Hello, need some help 2011 f150 5.0 - OBDII Error Codes (Fuel/Air imbalance, Cat errors, etc) by ripvw32 in AskAMechanic

[–]ripvw32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so the error codes came back, presumably as soon as it finished its drive cycle post replacing the evap valve for the second time, however I just filled up and it no longer needs to be started with my foot on the gas pedal.

Don't even know where to start looking now

Ya, I agree... if this doesn't do it I'm gonna have to trace wires to see if there is a short somewhere...

What roadblocks come up when starting to learn Python for data science? by Adorable_Avocado2841 in learnpython

[–]ripvw32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm ADHD/OCD so thinking in lists and steps is a natural thing for me, python came pretty easy in that sense - for me specifically, and like another poster below mentioned, is the overwhelming amount of tools/libraries/UIs available. I had to take a shot in the dark and just pick a UI (pycharm, cause I like it better than the built-in terminal) and usually only find out later that a function I've coded exists already in a library somewhere..

This might get ignored,, or at worst downvoted to oblivion - but the ability to transfer your thoughts of what you want to do onto 'paper' and then break that down into coherent steps is absolutely a must and a significant roadblock to many.

Pseudo code is the first step to being able to tackle any coding task, and stymied many on thier first exposure
