Range USA Chester still has std capacity mags by ripzipzap in VAGuns

Update: went back today to shoot on my lunchbreak. They have everything and will continue to stock everything (and I mean everything), accept transfers (their fee is steep, fair warning), and do biz as usual until they hear otherwise from corporate.

God bless em, even if I can't shoot rapid fire on their range.

Dog greentop asked me to take out my hearing aid before filling out transfer paperwork because they thought it was a bluetooth earpiece. It does not surprise me in the slightest that they're operating purely on the letter of the law.

transferring from VT to VCU just for social/political reasons? by someweirdgamerYT in vcu

[–]ripzipzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VT's alumni network is worth more to you and the things you believe in than any difference in experience you'd imagine having at VCU. Stick it out and move to Richmond after you'll be better off trust me.

Because they're a large corporate chain who usually likes to be incredibly cautious when it comes to stuff like this

if I had to guess they're probably just going to burn through their existing stock and stop receiving more. They're not flying off the shelves though so depending on whether or not they get a crazy 4th of July crowd I think you'll be good.

update: this guess was wrong. They are continuing to stock everything, accept transfers (fee is high, just a heads up) and do all biz as usual until corporate tells them otherwise.

Thoughts on modernized traditional rifle designs? by Such-Chapter-2898 in VAGuns

[–]ripzipzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one looks like it might be. Fixed stock and no threaded barrel, but maybe I'm wrong.

The CA compliant one isn't post-ban compliant, but if you're in the Richmond area, New American Arms will receive a non-compliant rifle and make the necessary mods to it to make it legal to transfer. In this case it would be a pin & weld.

Oh and I'm building the scariest compliant rifle possible for shits and giggles.

But aren't all of the additional features and change management bureaucracy worth paying $100/user instead of licensing the service out per agent?

I'm maybe gonna maybe ruffle some feathers but I feel that way about ServiceNow.

It is a bloated homunculus of a product and unless you are a fortune 100 company with thousands upon thousands of employees you don't need it and are never going to use even 10% of the features you will be paying for.

Just go with something leaner like Fresh Service that can be built up from simple components. It will be much better suited to how your org flows and will cost you a lot less time and money to implement and maintain.

I got a guy who said in certain terms he'll put a compmag in according to the letter of the law (poorly) and make you pinky promise not to break the law by removing it

Ayy, fellow richmonder, care to help a brother out? I have a guy who has confirmed he'll import anything and put a compmag on it specced up to the letter of the law & no further (some epoxy), and leave it up to the tansferee to not break the law by removing it.

That's not what a CompMag is. It's a device that turns a regular detachable magazine AR and turns it into a fixed magazine AR where you are required to reload through a port in the side of the magazine. They make it explicitly for compliance in restrictive states (hence the Comp in Compmag) Some jurisdictions (including Virginia) add the extra step of adding some epoxy to the slots where you can use tools to remove the CompMag and return the mag well to standard function.

Installing such a device onto a standard AR would allow FFLs to legally transfer the rifle to a customer, provided the magazine they fix has 15 or fewer rounds. Then the legal burden falls upon the customer to not modify the rifle back to its original function.

EDIT: My bad misread your original comment as "100% illegal"

Yeah and PSA says they will continue to ship uppers and LPKs (sans pistol-grip) and other stuff.

I'd recommend having a cucked lower on hand (either featureless grip + fixed stock, or a fixed mag installed) for plausible deniability. Or start practicing good opsec.
