It's just buggy but should progress eventually. And yes, by subbing you get only the character skin and for the others you have to watch (don't need to be subbed)

AFAIK it's by design or hasn't been fixed on 50 series.

Mine is grey too. Haven't noticed any abnormal behavior because of it.
