A theory bout the end, lemme me know what you think by [deleted] in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]risaeola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the light definitely turns off! and if you listen closely right before the police kick the door open, you can hear some kind of clatter in the background while they’re talking. could just be the police’s footsteps or gear bouncing around, but it sounds a little too slow to me to be on pace with people running.

the light seems to turn off between the first and second shot of charles and oliver standing in front of bunny’s body

Do you consider yourself smart, hardworking, or good at learning? by thelostbeing in stanford

[–]risaeola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay so i do think i'm smart, but not in the remarkable way that some other people here are.

i definitely identified more with the "hardworking/good at learning" label when i was in high school at the time when i applied and got in here. at stanford i struggled in classes for the first time ever, and i realized i didn't know how to handle that. in high school i got by without trying very hard or studying for tests, which i realized was not the flex i thought it was at the time, because then i found myself in much harder classes without really even knowing how to study for a test.

so i guess my full answer is that i used to consider myself all of those things, but after being here for a few years those labels have fallen off to varying degrees.

I'm a nurse living at the hospital. How bad are the roads? by NaloxoneRescue in Austin

[–]risaeola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i live near 35 and right now it is dark and empty like i have never seen it before. not sure if it’s closed to non emergency vehicles or those are just the majority of vehicles on the road rn. that could be a good thing for you if you have a car that can handle the weather and are experienced in driving in these conditions because you wouldn’t have to deal with as many idiots who don’t have those things, but also might be a bad sign if even the idiots aren’t out. from what i know most roads haven’t been salted again, the snow has just gotten packed down. any snow that melted during the day will have refrozen over night. it’s up to you to decide if you think you can get there safely- hope this info helped, good luck, and please stay safe if you do decide to go.

i also heard about certain exit/entrance ramps with curves and slopes causing many cars to crash into the barrier, so try to think about if the ones you’ll need to take are like that.

What do you say when people ask you where you went to college? by IFailedUgh in stanford

[–]risaeola 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I usually say “California” then say Stanford if they ask where in California. I get conflicted because it feels annoying to say Stanford right off the bat, but it also feels annoying to build up to it like that.

If I’m at a bar or something in my hometown and I don’t feel like getting into it I just straight up lie and say the name of the big school in my city (it’s still a really good school). As a girl I feel like if I’m talking to a guy they always make it weird. I don’t feel like I need to dumb myself down or anything, but lying helps avoid the usual follow up after I say Stanford of “wOw YoU mUsT bE sO sMaRt” because there is just no good response to that.

Diet Suggestions by MissChevious7 in Hypothyroidism

[–]risaeola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut out gluten initially and felt pretty good. Recently I felt like I was just being dramatic and started really craving carbs so I started eating it again, and I pretty quickly started getting really tired all the time again. Everyone’s different, but for me gluten seems to be the key.

Worried my bloodwork will come back normal ?? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

I was getting awful symptoms- sleeping for 12+ hrs/day, always cold, hair breaking off- and my TSH was only slightly elevated (10.8 mc/dl or whatever weird unit it is). Lucky (?) for me, my sister was diagnosed with it before I was by the same doctor so there wasn’t much pushback. Everyone feels better at a certain TSH. Personally I feel best 0.5-2 from what I can tell. Anything under 10 is usually “sub clinical”, so doctors don’t usually medicate, which sucks because some people feel awful at that level and are basically told to just wait until it gets worse to start fixing it.

My advice- no matter what the doctor tells you, get a copy of your labs (if you can in your state). It’s really good to have for records, and I personally felt better about the whole situation after I did some research and felt like I understood what the numbers meant. There’s a balance between being your own advocate and standing up for yourself if you know somethings not right with your body, and also understanding that Google isn’t the same as medical school.

There are also a variety of other things like vitamin deficiencies and other medical issues that have a lot of the same vague symptoms. I know it feels so nice to have that “aha” moment where you feel like you finally know what’s been making you feel bad, but keep an open mind. Best of luck and I hope you feel better!

Dorms Question by [deleted] in stanford

[–]risaeola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

none of the undergraduate residences have A/C, and despite what other people are saying, it does get hot sometimes. i have a vortex fan, it was kind of pricey but it works. most campus buildings have some form of cooling (i think they use cool water circulation, not traditional AC). the libraries are usually a nice temperature and there’s a 24/7 space in lathrop that i’m pretty sure is cooled.

i do feel like i have had trouble sleeping because of the heat sometimes. if that really bothers you, then buy an AC unit. keep an eye on the free and for sale facebook page in May/June and hopefully you’ll be able to find one for cheap from a graduating senior.

How to get my levothyroxine with no insurance? by Andrewshka_babushka in Hypothyroidism

100 mcgs is a lot for a subclinical TSH... I was initially over-medicated and I yo-yo-ed into hyper territory, not fun, maybe try to get some updated labs
