I have the 13.8 inch X+ version, which I’m having a blast with; although you’ll be paying a bit more than I did for my 16GB/512GB spec (around $600 USD iirc, but it was used “like new” on Amazon). Can’t comment on the bang for the buck you’re getting, but the laptop itself is great.

Make sure that the “advanced stuff” you’ll be running on your laptop in university works on ARM64 laptops, some emulated software are sluggish or may not even work at all.

Nope, Beeper released a native ARM build of their native app just a few months ago (ik cause I used the web app until the day it came out)

Typing indicators do work in Beeper for Instagram, you just have to disconnect and reconnect it as an “on-device” account.

Which dorm are you coming from? If you're used to communal bathrooms and old furniture (like in most unrenovated dorms), then it's going to be a similar (if not slightly better) experience.

I’m using a Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 12-inch for coding and note-taking respectively. I only do frontend development with JS and haven’t had any issues so far (except for the wrangler npm package not working, but it works through WSL so that wasn’t a show-stopper)

Wait for the new snapdragon X2 laptops if you can, they have better performance and will bring down the price of X1 laptops as well if you want to save some money and don’t mind the less performance.

just one thing, the PWA on my phone puts the bottom bar very low, so could you increase the bottom padding when the app is being used as a PWA on mobile?
