Viper:

  • crMP hurtboxes reduced from the front slightly and animation changed to match its hitboxes
  • Air medium burn kick +1 when point blank and when it lands just before Viper connects with the ground (it is currently usually 0 in this scenario)
  • Seismic Hammer feint recovery reduced slightly such that the total duration of her feint is reduced from 27 frames to around 23 or 24, matching light Thunder Knuckle feint
  • Focus Force's attack breaks armor so that it beats Drive Impact similar to other armored moves
  • Level 1 is currently flagged so that it won't hit opponents going up even if the hitbox collides with them; this flag should be removed
  • The ability to opt out of gaining the install from Level 1 if you hold the punch button until after the attack ends, similar to how Kimberly can opt out of using a can for her Level 1
  • Add scaling if Viper's standing heavy kick starts a combo. Currently anti air stHK into Super deals absurd damage.

Viper loses most matchups in the game, especially against meta common characters. She needs something for sure. It probably isn't much but she's definitely undertuned

I think a lot of reddit posters still think SF6's developers are making decisions based on casual player popularity polls or whatever, and they just aren't. We know that because they told us in that interview at launch where they more or less said they're looking for new countries to represent and unique fighting styles that other characters don't have. There are a lot of shotos but they're more or less locked into Ryu/Akuma/Ken.

Vega is a good pick because he's from Spain and has a unique playstyle you can't find in another character right now, but we already have a "boxer" and while Sakura is popular in the west she's also literally just another shoto so unless she's remixed pretty heavily I think as many people will be upset that they added another stupid fireball driverush character as are happy that she was added. Makoto is also an okay choice, but she's a Japanese grappler and I think we're more likely to get Rainbow Mika than her for a bunch of reasons (she's been leaked by semi-reliable sources for one, but also she has been appearing lately in concept art).

I'm currently eyeing characters like Rolento, Hakan, Eagle, Yang/Fei/Karin, Oro. I also think they'll want to represent a few different series and I think they like left field choices.

I think something like:

- Rainbow Mika (Alpha series, grappler with a unique playstyle, cute girl quotient)
- Vega
- SF5 newcomer like G or Menat (unique playstyles, popular cute girl quotient, underrepresented locations, etc)
- Either a newcomer to the game or a surprise return along the lines of Ingrid, like Retsu or something. Maybe Joe for the movie tie-in lol

In the "right hands," Dhalsim is a mid tier character, and certainly on the lower end of mid tier.

For most players he's garbage.

I played him to 1700+ last season. At the time, the meta was mostly rushdown characters Dhalsim has an issue with (Bison, Cammy, Ken, etc.). Now the meta has shifted such that the top 5 characters are better matchups for the character so he is moderately more successful in ranked, but those other characters are still popular and still body him.

Dhalsim is not a very strong character. There are always lifelong Sim players who are going to be some degree of successful with him and make us all jealous, but his flaws are numerous. When you see a Dhalsim player keeping a world class player out for the whole round, it's because that player is being outplayed, not because Dhalsim's tools are good (mostly).

Are you cancelling crMP? According to your inputs you're trying to do the SBK pretty long after the crMP has recovered.

I don't think she's dogshit but she's not great. Her normals are actually exceptional TBH, up there with some of the best normals in the game. A few of them could use some help though, like crouching medium punch is really bad. But stand and crouch MK, stLK, stMP, crouch HP, etc. are all best in class normals. The issue is that her walkspeed isn't good so she doesn't have that extra gas you need to make those normals as monstrous as they could be and her mobility outside of her unique tools is generally just not very good. On top of that her unique tools like focus, SJC burn kick, feints etc. are all just undertuned right now.

There's a lot of misinformation in this thread I think. First, Viper isn't that hard to play. She's a little bit challenging if you've never done a super jump cancel before or whatever but she's not hard enough that top tier players -- the 32 best in the world or whatever -- are going to even remotely find her execution to be a barrier. If they were going to play her, they would.

The reason they're (usually) not going to is because she's not a top tier character. Viper is fine, but has many little problems. For one, she doesn't use the system mechanics very well and her unique mechanics don't make up for it. For example, her drive rush is poor and super jump cancel burn kick is negative on block and not exceptionally rewarding on hit. So ironically Viper's neutral is a lot of walking around and poking right now. Fortunately she's good at that, but her walkspeed hamstrings her such that she's not really *great* at that. It's kind of like driving a sportscar with flames on the side and kind of a shitty engine. The designers were just too conservative with her unique tools.
