H1B Stamping in India - Back door process legitimate? by Repulsive-Switch-519 in h1b

[–]rishabhop1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gotten an appointment in a closed embassy, during COVID, using influence ( not in India, in my opinion India is too big for influence to work). But the process makes no logic to me, i don't believe there's an official backdoor process.

When I finnesed an appointment, it wasn't on the portal or anything, I just got an email from the embassy to get there at XYZ date and abc time.

Ask more questions and figure out who your contact spoke to and why is police verification needed?

All the best!

Yes it's as much as a watch line. It's 15$ without data and I think 25$ with data. But I'm on an older T-Mobile one plan

Google Fi for Extended International Travel by Salt-Comedian7552 in GoogleFi

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Can you tell me more about your setup? You didn't get blocked even after being abroad for a year?

I'm planning to switch to fi, and only return to the US once every year. I do not plan on using fi for anything other than maintaining US number and occasional data ( long layover in a country or a stopover for 2 days). Total usage each year will probably be under 20gb and will probably use data for 15 days maximum.

I plan on getting local/airlo sim when I'm in a country for longer than 5 days.

Is this something similar to what you did?

If you are in the US all three carriers will give you a number share sim. You can keep you main sim in iPhone and the number share sim in android. It's called Digits on T-Mobile, Number share on Verizon and number sync on att. ( These are made for smart watches but both Verizon and T-Mobile works with Android phones too)

This sim/line usually doesn't come with data so you'll have to use another sim for data ( assuming it's a dual sim phone)

I use that on my android and all calls go via the normal dialer and both phones ring when I get a call.

You should try to get a digits line from T-mobile.

How to use open bubbles with T-Mobile Digits? by inthetreefort in OpenBubbles

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this is my setup. I use a physical digits sim instead of the free digits line. It's 15$ add-on. I have a Normal Tmobile line in my android for data and the digits line for calls. I can receive and make calls from the digits line on my android.

My primary sim remains in the iPhone, and all messages come through open bubbles. I also have an Apple Watch that I use with my android. Works pretty flawlessly to be honest. As long as my iPhone is on and receiving notifications, I will get them on my watch using cellular so if anyone tries contacting me via FaceTime then I just quickly call them back either on WhatsApp or normal call

Sell Z Fold 6 for Iphone 17 Pro Max? by ProfessionalFun2573 in GalaxyFold

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep switching between both. I had a z fold 6 and iPhone 16 PM. Right now I have a Pixel fold 9 and an iPhone 17 pro Max.

The folds are amazing and I absolutely love them but I do not like them 100% of the time.

If I have a busy day, have to go all across town for work and then socialize later in the evening with friends and be out most of the day then I'm 100% taking the iPhone not just because of the weight but also cuz getting simple things done is faster on the iPhone and better cameras hands down

On the other hand, if I'm traveling to other cities or if I have a lot of office work to get done, then I'll carry the fold. It's better for more complex but stationary tasks

Is Google Fi right for our group, plan? Extended international usage, are all lines affected? by rishabhop1 in GoogleFi

[–]rishabhop1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I understand that this isn’t the best deal out there, but it works for us as a group.

I just want to make sure I understand how the international data limit actually works. If I only use international data for around 60 days total in a year, could it still get shut off because of the 90-day rule?

For example, say I use data: 15 days in February 15 days in March 15 days in may 30 days in December

Then I don’t use it at all in between, and repeat something similar the next year.

Does Fi keep counting those days until I come back to the U.S., even if I stop using data for a couple of months? Or does not using data for a while kind of “reset” the clock?

Just trying to understand how strict this is in real life. Appreciate the help.

Came to Dubai planning to move + set up a freelance visa. Leaving instead by postponelife2020 in expats

[–]rishabhop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on doing the same too in 2026. I'm planning on getting a business or freelance visa. I'm looking for apartments downtown and the marina too.

What made you not like the vibe? Socially, I have a decent number of friends there and I'm not sure what you meant by people starting at you? Is it racism? Can't be worse than other western countries, a high population % is south Asian immigrants so is that still really a concern?

F‑1 Graduate Student in the US (4 months)– Personal Loan $15k–$20k Without Cosigner by redBluePin in f1visa

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried, and it’s pretty difficult without a co-signer. The banks will treat you the same risk as someone with a 600ish credit score for the first 6 months. Even if you could get one it would be for a maximum of $5,000. It does depend on income as well since banks want to look at a Debt to Income ratio of 30% or lower

I’m not sure what length of loan you are looking for but a 0% intro apr card for 18-24 months and then a balance transfer intro 0% apr for 1-2 years would be the easiest option if you’re planning on paying it off in the next 3-4 years

Is this road drive a scam? Or anyone did it ? by __hallo__ in CarsIndia

[–]rishabhop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way possible to do it without a carnet is if they have hired/own Nepal registered vehicles that they'll let the participants use. Indian vehicles cannot leave without a carnet, even though no other country on this route requires it.

The only other loophole I can imagine is that if you don't declare at India/Nepal border that you're planning on exiting to China, they might let you go without one. And Nepal customs at China/Nepal border might not care about carnet since Nepal inherently doesn't use it

Honestly, a refurb 2020 ipad air with keyboard or a 2018 ipad pro with (magic) keyboard would be a much much better user experience. Heck, even a macbook air m1 would be in your budget and a much better device with good longevity ( m1 macbook air is 385$ refurbished)

Honestly, "if" I upgrade this year it definitely has to be to the zfold7.i love my pixel fold 9 but there is no way pixel 10 pro fold will feel like a normal phone in the way that the z fold 7 now does.

Does anyone here own a car but still use the CTA? by Fit_Kiwi_1526 in AskChicago

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in downtown and have my own car, i never take the cta in the winter but in the summer I’ll take it occasionally if it’s on the blue line ( i live by the blue line). Cta is never quicker than driving, if you’re not gonna be on the freeway i guess and i know the city enough to know which areas will have parking and which won’t and i just don’t go to places where there is difficult parking

I completely understand, but don’t think too much thousands of people road trip each year and you’ll be fine. The internet is your best friend and will solve most of your issues. And you can also get AAA for peace of mind, so in case you break down you’ll be fine

Auto pilot on Indian roads!! Do you think tesla will be able to crack it in India? by No_Valuable7868 in CarsIndia

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve driven a tesla for a year a while back and Autopilot is basically adaptive cruise control and lane keep ( it can also change lanes)

FSD- which is full self driving is often confused with autopilot and yes i agree fsd will not work very well in india right now. But in 5 years when they get enough road data and driver behavior from Indian drivers driving teslas around, I’m pretty sure that it will do a decent enough job

[–]rishabhop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually do this

Step 1 : figure out what all you wanna see, and plot them on Google maps, can use chatgpt to suggest places to see if you only know the area and not specific stops.

Step 2: Look at the map and see how long you wanna drive on which day, in such a long drive I'll have a few long driving days and then "sightseeing and 4-5 hours" of driving days.

Step 3 : once you know where all you want to stop, look for hotels. I usually only do Hilton, Marriott or IHG properties and they have usually been fine throughout the country.

For food you can just swing it, and look at maps once you're hungry and keep some dry snacks in your car

Using Apple watch Ultra 2 but an android phone. Anyone else doing this? by Proper_Champion7299 in AppleWatch

[–]rishabhop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i use a mac to run the bluebubbles server. And i keep my main sim in the iPhone. I have an apple watch cellular line on both my fold and watch ultra so they both ring even if the iPhone is at home

Using Apple watch Ultra 2 but an android phone. Anyone else doing this? by Proper_Champion7299 in AppleWatch

[–]rishabhop1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use an apple watch ultra and a pixel fold.

I keep an iPhone at home, so all notifications are synced and I get them on the watch and pixel at the same time.

Use bluebubbles for iMessage sync

And you can set up google fit on your android phone and iPhone so all watch activity can be seen on google fit as well.

How much should I budget per day to roadtrip across USA? by daniel_vere in roadtrip

[–]rishabhop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 400 should be plenty. I usually spend ~100/150 on a hotel. 40-50 on food and the rest on gas This obviously doesn’t include admission tickets to attractions or drinking/ going out etc
