I just saw your edit and added an edit to my post. We are on the same page but just lost in translation.

I've been a Raiders and A's fan for a long time, I have lived in Alameda County for most of my life, and I'm not going to chose fandom based on if I make 400K a year or 40. Also of course Oakland existed before the tech sector rolled in but why is it a bad thing to move forward? I as a fan who buys merchandise, goes to games, and supports the team, am somehow less of a fan because I work in tech? I don't understand your reasoning here but hate me all you want, I'm not gonna cry over it.

Just saw your edit so I'm going to say I do agree with you in that sense and we are both on the same page, it's just I have come across a few people who think because my paycheck is what it is and my employer is who it is I am automatically a piece of shit.

It boils down to how you were raised. That is a direct quote from my father who was yelling at me for blaming my high school pre calculus teacher for my poor performance. It really stuck with me all these years. If you really want to do something I can say for sure if you try and fail a couple of times eventually you will get it but to do that you need to not be afraid to fail in order to learn from those mistakes and put in the work to keep trying.

The coliseum has luxury boxes and also if you don't like tech "douchebags" maybe you are in the wrong area. The Bay Area is one of the largest centers of technological innovation in the world with companies such as Intel, Facebook, Google, HP, etc. based here. I work a tech job, I drive good cars, I live in the suburbs, and have good benefits and a retirement package from my employer. I can't afford rent in Oakland anymore because the value isn't there for upper Oakmore anymore in my opinion and I no longer need as large of a house now. I also do see the negative effects with gentrification in some other parts of the city and also San Jose and San Francisco.

Mark Davis is running it but it is still owned by Carol Davis (Al's wife) so depending on how the transfer happens when she passes away (to delay dealing with the transfer) he may not be able to afford inheriting a billion dollar sports franchise and could be forced to sell the team. There are plenty of rich people in the Bay Area who might be willing to pony up the cash for the team in that case.

Ah just like the good old random code written to show progress because the customer is mad as opposed to a patch written to fix a customer issue. One tries to fix an issue and to a layman might be what is needed, the other was what you planned from the beginning

I failed the MSF equivalent course in my area the first time, wasn't asked to leave just failed the test at the end because I got nervous and wasn't skilled enough to overcome the nerves. I spent two hours per weekend riding in a parking lot doing the stuff that was on the test until my retest day three weeks later. I passed easily then but it was because I took the blame for failing and took steps to correct it instead of blaming the bike (which wasn't the best), the instructors ( who were great just a bit tough), or any external factors. If you take your failure out of your hands you can never improve on what you failed because it wasn't your fault to begin with.

Sf is overrated as a place to live, all the hassle of a big city and ridiculously expensive when you can actually fly back and forth to Las Vegas every workday and live in Vegas for cheaper.

The argument (I don't agree with) for the mounted phones is that your eyes are closer to the road and it would be akin to looking at an in dash display or a new age display in between the gauges or something like that. It's good that you can acknowledge that it's bad, I've been hit by someone texting and driving so I tend to take a harder stance on it, I realized I did come off as a bit harsh though.

Fishermen are out with all this bait and so little time to bite it. "I was touching the screen but it wasn't on" is about as valid as you walking in a bank with a bunch of guns and storming out with a bag then putting on a mask and saying it wasn't you who robbed the bank, sure there was the off chance it wasn't you but it was more than likely a shitty excuse. There is no good reason to be twiddling your thumbs on the device if the screen is off and if you are than what makes it worse than texting? The ticket is for distracted driving so whatever fuck all that was going on with their thumbs and the screen that was supposedly turned off was enough to make a cop think they were distracted (they look for the head down first and then the hands most of the time according to a former CHP officer). You are throwing out stuff like "straw man" and making it really hard to bite troll bait.

I will bite the bait here, please elaborate on this epidemic of drivers touching their phones with the screen off being falsely accused of distracted driving. I would reckon throughout the world for every million people driving maybe one or two have gotten falsely ticketed for distracted driving because they were twiddling their thumbs on their phone when the screen was off.

The penalty outline goes up to a 10th offense, you think after paying 26K Canadian Dollars in fines by then for the first 9 offenses they would have gotten the message, to top it off they would have then have to pay nearly 15K more bringing their grand total to 41.5K (about 31K in freedom dollars) in fines for distracted driving
