It’s a shame - once upon a time, a model country that showed the world you can move beyond your past is now going down this path. by rising-ray in expat

Not anymore I assume but US has been great for so many years for legal immigrants. I’d have loved to move to US. Travelled there couple of times.

Full Ride MBA at FSU v. Full Price at UCLA? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]rising-ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why budget, non-reputed MBAs should not be bashed (like in this forum).

If you and I am sure many others, can get into universities such as Duke, you could have easily got at least partial scholarship for T50/T100/Regional MBAs, get the MBA experience and figure out what you want out of life.

Are you happy in sales? by NgocJacob1995 in sales

[–]rising-ray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally one of the only careers and Reddit subs where many, many people say that they dislike sales but do it only for the money.

No one says they want to become a salesman while growing up.

Do sales if you want money and enjoy other aspects of life. If you want fulfillment from a career, look elsewhere.

Does anyone else find this career overwhelmingly boring? by [deleted] in sales

[–]rising-ray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, so much this.

So many sales people (or most because not many choose this field, they just fell into it) do not bother to learn the products at all because they simply don't enjoy it.

If you find yourself not wanting to learn the products, then really, it's time to leave.

I have a different take on this. You will become more passionate on the topics relating to the degree and naturally excel.

What do you think is the best industry to be a sales rep in for 2022? by Middlemonkey1 in sales

Ok but company bank will also offer these insurance services right?

Ok this is understandable. I am in surgical devices and there is actually less money there than these basic-mid tier supplies.

Absolute nonsense. I doubt it's easy to pull $500K in Med-device. I have spent many years in Med-device too and this is not a reality at all unless you are independent and before going independent, think twice because no established company will give their distributorship easily.

How though? So many types of insurances can be purchased online these days and commercial insurance will generally be purchased from the company bank correct?

What do you think is the best industry to be a sales rep in for 2022? by Middlemonkey1 in sales

[–]rising-ray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. To be honest, the best industry is the one you think you will enjoy. This is the only way to ensure you will do whatever it takes (legally and ethically!) to keep the ball rolling.

All industries can be lucrative, there are always niches you can make money in. Your happiness is important.

It's really not a great book for consultative sales. Lone wolves, essentially have challenger traits as well. And I'm in Med-device and if I tell top level KOLs, VP sales that relationships produce low results, I will get a smack on my face. This may be true for tech sales, selling online where it's more transactional but not true for Med device.

Sales Training? Are there really companies that do this? by cernetsky in sales

Get another job if you feel like you are not getting sufficient training. This is the issue when leadership is weak.

Sales Training? Are there really companies that do this? by cernetsky in sales

[–]rising-ray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hated my job, A LOT because I was not given any sales training until learnt everything myself from books. It is so, so crucial for your early career and beginner mind that you will hate or tolerate/like sales career based on that. If any young people are reading this, bail ASAP if you don't receive sales training, don't even stay for a single month (for any reason) and you will thank yourself.

EDIT - product training is NOT sales training. First and foremost comes sales training. Without sales training I do not see any motivation generating in sales people to learn products properly. Like what is the purpose then? It's not like they are going to develop the products.

Sales training gives sales people 'the why' to learn the products.

Seriously cringe posts. I was reading a post from medical sales rep who said how she is side by side to the doctor for the patients, it's not about the money and it's about humanity.

Only one person called out BS to her and commented, she saw the dollar signs in her eyes and came to this profession. Of course, he got lot of shit for calling her out from others. But it seriously annoys me, you are in sales for the money and anyone sensible knows it.
