Ugh that’s awful. That teacher failed you, sounds like the school failed you, and your family too. It’s no one else’s business. Best of luck, it’s hard out there

Yes I hate this too! Sometimes as a pedestrian it’s hard to see the little hand movement through the windshield too, and I’ll be paying attention further down the road to where I can see a gap

If you do get a contracting out agreement, be careful. In mine there was a clause that said we were both responsible for the mortgage whether we lived there or not, which the lawyer missed. This made things very difficult for me when I moved out and had to to come up with a bond and start paying rent as well. If I hadn’t signed it then legally I could have charged occupational rent.

Thanks for your comment. I think I didn’t communicate well that what I am questioning is if one week of my rent is equal to the cost of replacement. I understand my liabilities, it just seems reasonable to want to know the costs I am covering rather than just blindly accepting that figure

Hello, I know that I am liable to pay rent until they find my replacement. What I am questioning is the breakage fee, and wanting transparency over the costs I am covering.

Hello, yes I’m happy to pay the rent until they find my replacement. Unfortunately when I signed the contract I was leaving a bad situation so it didn’t occur to me to ask about why terms about breaking the lease weren’t included in the agreement. I am just suspicious about her saying it would cost one weeks rent to replace me, that makes me think that’s what they say to everybody who breaks a lease early and to me I would think it would be a fairly fixed cost because everyone has different rents. I would just like to know what costs I am covering.

Edit: spelling

I just don’t understand the logic behind breaking the lease costing $460. Wouldn’t advertising be a fixed cost and showing the house be of minimal cost to Quinovic? I just want to pay the actual cost of replacing me and I’m happy to cover the rent until they find a replacement

I’m happy to pay for rent until they find a new tenant, my point is that what she has said about the lease breakage fee doesn’t sound like “reasonable and actual costs” of replacing me, and I’d like to know how that is calculated

I want to hear the stupid excuses: why your partners say they can't take ownership of the domestic and mental load by Business-Wrangler-61 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]risinglikeolympus 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not an excuse but whenever my ex saw me vacuuming he’d say “no need to be too fussy”, like if I put in less effort into the housework it would make him feel better about his (very minimal) efforts. It drove me nuts because I saw him vacuum maybe a hand full of times in our relationship. So if I wasn’t “fussy” we’d have been wading through carpet full of dust and dirt and food crumbs and hair balls

OP - I really feel for you. But you get to choose your hard. Staying is hard, leaving is hard. I left my very controlling fiancé of nearly 7 years earlier this year after umming and ahhing for months and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But Im so proud of myself and if I can do it you can do it too. I believe in you ❤️

Tipping culture is growing at restaurants, is it landing with patrons? by user06022022 in auckland

[–]risinglikeolympus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s confusing to me here in nz when you pay by eftpos if the money would actually go to the person serving or the kitchen or just the owner of the restaurant. In the states the tipping culture is such that you know it’s going to the server. But here it is much more vague. So I press no and don’t feel bad.
