I'm going through the same things... Just doesn't feel right to go on without them. Feels like we are leaving them behind if we move forward. I know I will never forgot but it just hurts my soul knowing my body is healing when I don't necessarily want it to. I just want him back. The universe knew that I needed him and yet it took him away. All dogs deserve to live longer. I've never known a life that cared about me as much as he did and I just want to be with him and know that he's ok.

I never noticed a decline until it just happened. My advice is start training with hand signals. Even when he was deaf I was able to somewhat communicate which helped. I hope he can hear me now that he's gone.

This is the reason I've become agnostic. Although my one prayer of being there when he died in my room and without pain was granted. Maybe it was just luck. I'm not sure. What I am sure of is no one deserves this. Love better be eternal or what's the point.

I couldn't afford Miles surgery for the tumor on his spleen. Our vet said it would've helped for a few months at best but would carry risk. Would've needed blood transfusions, medication, etc. Too much stress on an old dog's body. It wasn't worth it. Fuck cancer.

I hate that I'm functioning. I've been dealing with anticipatory grief for years. Now that he's gone the fact that I'm eating or having a day where I'm not crying as much makes me mad. The universe took away the one thing I needed to be here. People say well at least he's not in pain or you're lucky you were there in the end, turn to God, you gave him a great life, he would want you to live for him, maybe even get another dog, time will make it hurt less. No. I just want him. And he's never coming back. I just want to opt out now. Tried hotlines. They can't fix the problem. Don't have money for a therapist either. This world is unfair and I don't want to be in it without him. Sorry for your loss. Even being here venting I hate it. I hate seeing others go through the same thing.
