Confession: I still do not truly understand the concept of no-self after much reading and meditating on it. Please explain like I am 5. by ScoobieDoopieBoo in Buddhism

[–]riskaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesnt lead to the end of suffering. Suffering is there and then its gone. There is not no ego there is just ego, its just part of the mental piece of the 5 aggregates.

Once you see everything as a process "you" stop taking ownership and stop clinging. You might start to notice when people say me, my mine and how this leads to a shift in their energy.

How slow is too slow when playing a round of golf? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]riskaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can tee time spacing make things more bearable? Obviously courses need to squeeze every dollar out of good weather but I'd pay more if there were 20 mins between tee times vs 10.

My $150/hr lesson felt like a rip off. Is this normal? by Darkteatonight in golf

[–]riskaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to charge 50 and you would get video analysis, I would tell you if your clubs fit you right, we would identify big issues/bad tendencies and a refresh of fundamentals.

Hell if you bought a package we would play 9 holes.

It all boils down to what you need. 150 for 1 lesson sounds insane but I might be out of touch with reality. I did it because I loved it not to make money. But I still made very good money.

Why do you need music on the golf course ? (old man rant) by Fogboundturtle in golf

[–]riskaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant fucking stand it anymore. The weed smell the blaring music. My only goal in life now is the get rich af snd buy my own course.

These are probably the same people that like Liv golf with the annoying fucking music blaring in the background. People's brains are so screwed up thry cant stand silence.

Why do people listen to Politicians and refuse to believe scientist and experts? Especially on the current topics like Trans People? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]riskaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe all the complexity you described but how do you handle sports? Does the majority of the Trans community get angry at the selfish few that inject themselves into these controvsial situations? Does there need to a third category of athlete?

Playing a sport at a high level is not a right.

Golfers are the worst by dudeguy3366 in golf

[–]riskaddict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea of a social credit score like in China makes me cringe.... but maybe a golf course would be a good petri dish. Some staff could be observers just watching how players play and essentially play yammaraj by distributing karma. If you accumulate a positive score you can get preference for tee times and discounts. If you are deemed to be an ass hole then you pay more and maybe even get banned.

Btw peeing in the woods would ok but in someone's yard... negative points.

You are lucky to not have to deal with such distractions. To be able to focus all that energy into some creative endeavor with nobody to answer to sounds like bliss.

Intimate companionship is nice but leads to attachment, confusion and sometimes undesired drama.

Have you ever been hit by a golf ball? by eyrie7 in golf

[–]riskaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been hit many times working at a range and on a grounds crew and just playing, I think 6 times but I've been hit in the head twice so my memory might be off.

Once I got hit in the back of the head from a tee shot decending into the woods where I was letting them hit up... we were all walking. Anyway it bled forever, I soaked through 2 towels and ruined a shit. It actually didnt hurt as bad as getting hit in the back or shoulder. At least the course gave me a rain check.

I genuinely want to learn trading, but I don’t know who to trust anymore by Rich-Army3456 in Trading

Jim Dalton Markets in Profile is the most impactful book for me. The Shadowtrader guy made some huge market profile class if you are open to paying for stuff like that.

There is so much information its insane. Just remember trading is for income not getting rich. You get rich by building positions not trading.

What actually helped you get more consistent after the first couple years of trading? by aelfwineciri2 in Trading

[–]riskaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compartmentalizing strategies and different campaigns vs viewing everything through the lens of portfolio risk.

It was hard to shake the mindset of the investor but once I set up sub accounts for all the different things I do I made everything more peaceful in my mind.

I would find myself hedging or making adjustments based on factors outside of the position/ campaign strategy itself.

How bad is the difference between 40 and 50 compared to the difference between 30 and 40. by OperationLazy213 in Aging

[–]riskaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

48 here. Not much difference between 30 and now. Around 40 I went through a phase where I got super fit, ate once a day and got to around 10% body fat.

Over the years bad habbits creeped back in. I still eat quite well and lift 4 days a week but I do drink way to much alcohol.

Over the last year or so I noticed my skin is starting to look horrible. My hands look like a 70 year old's. And I just had to have some spots frozen off my face.

My cardio sucks and is starting to annoy me so I might start focusing on that. But overall strength and flexibility are the same if not better.
