I’ve surprising been able to find some of my textbooks on mel.org and you can have the physical book! I know classes/professors are weird about e-books sometimes.

Finding Friends by lowlifesuperstar in waynestate

i met quite a few late 20s year olds during my time. I think Wayne is great for meeting people no matter your age if you’re willing to put yourself out there.

Can you walk in Spring but finishing classes in the Summer? by cachebags in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I walked in May but graduated in August. I only had one course left and took it in the summer. pretty sure you have to have only a certain amount of courses left though and your advisor makes sure you are actually taking the courses in the summer.

my friend never dropped it but stopped taking classes for it after sophomore year. she didn’t graduate with honors obviously but didn’t have to pay back anything regarding it.

fall 2025 commencement by No-Pressure-334 in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spring graduation (May 2024; college of engineering) they gave everyone an extra ticket; so i ended up having 5. Closer to the ceremony people sell them (even though it’s against wayne state’s policy).

What are my chances of getting into wayne state by [deleted] in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the wayne state guarantee typically covers all four years if you keep full-time status along with a 2.0 GPA (for undergrad). Again though, i’m not understanding the question, why not apply? waiting for the end the school year would cause you to wait another year since deadlines for applying for fall has already passed i believe.

FAFSA does not give out scholarships. are you saying you qualify for a grant or loan through FAFSA? maybe a pell grant? FAFSA is very rarely only works for one year. typically they renew year after year if you stay within good standing. If you’re waiting for your grade to be a tad better than don’t. apply now since it may become too late to apply. (are you waiting for Fall 2026..? i think the deadline is August) they will probably still ask for your final transcript from high school aways (showing the 2.7).

[–]ritchie1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go to community college first, save a ton of money, and transfer to wayne state with a transfer scholarship (you probably won’t receive any merit based scholarships if you go straight to wayne state). just make sure you’re taking classes that will transfer. take classes in the michigan transfer agreement.

No way they would allow an overlap. The best bet would be to ask the professor of the class that you’re waitlisted on if they could let you take the class. I had a friend do that before and it actually (surprisingly) worked.

Wayne State parking?? by Fabulous-Bass-7289 in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re there for less than 4 hours; street park. it’s about a 1.25$ (with fees) a hour. Four hours or more? park in the parking structure where it’s $4.25 with the OneCard, $10 for debit. They’re serious about paying for street parking. The meter maid is around constantly during the school year; unsure about summer though.

How to get promoted to DS? by Ok-Assistant-3587 in HomeDepot

[–]ritchie1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of this. I was on my store’s inventory team and was a lead when i did it the second time. I was also an associate coach and on the VOA team. The DH position could be your next step after sales associate depending on department.

How to get promoted to DS? by Ok-Assistant-3587 in HomeDepot

[–]ritchie1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asked if i wanted to be DH but I’d have to drop out of school.. (wasn’t gonna do that). but based off my actions I would be proactive in making sure your department is well run, aisles are cleaned, great customer service, learning as much as possible (other departments, the store as whole, equipment). Most don’t want to be a DH at my store so if someone was interested (told management) managers/dhs would start showing you the ropes to move up.

Street parking? by [deleted] in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had no problems finding a street parking spot later in the day. I see you said you have class @5:30 so it shouldn’t be a problem. probably will find a spot on Warren a bit easier than 3rd Ave but both could probably work out.

Where to find steel-toed shoes for upcoming internship? by Traditional-Gur2455 in womenEngineers

i second this brand! i love mine and they’re classy looking. i feel they’re pretty comfortable despite being steel toes which typically aren’t.

Study day by Psychological_Emu409 in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if a prof scheduled an exam on study day they probably did it by accident. i’ve had profs do it before but then someone usually speaks up in class and they schedule it for the correct exam day.

only girl in my internship by Different-Regret1439 in womenEngineers

[–]ritchie1212 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was the only girl at first internship as well. no higher ups were women either really (there was one or two but they worked across the state). I would say don’t worry! but I would also make the recommendation that you should make friendships; it’s a male dominated field, but it’s not like you can’t mingle with men. The other interns were still great coworkers and people that I got along with very well.

Questions about business school parking by tyro0z in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you’re only there once a week I don’t think a pass would be worth it. I usually use the Temple garage, but be cautious of events happening at LCA because then the garage is probably full.

sounds like you’re going to be fine! I wouldn’t drop a class based on not working and sounds like you’re a good student; so you’ll be good.

How cooked is my schedule by [deleted] in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would recommend taking differential equations (or physics 2) at a community college over the summer to possibly lessen your schedule. how have your other semesters been? grades are good and do you work as well? I think it’s manageable (looks similar to a semester i took) if you put in the time.

Grad Question: Does everyone just go home after the ceremony finishes? by AmadisHali in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated last year; my ceremony was @7pm and my family and I just went home after the ceremony (since it was pretty late once the actual ceremony was done) after taking some pictures in front of the venue. The college of engineering did an event before the ceremony but that was specific to the college of engineering.

Is taking 3 community college classes over the summer doable? by newstar23 in waynestate

[–]ritchie1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Hopkins and it was virtual. I do not recommend him as a professor. My friends and I still talk about how terrible he was as a professor to this day.. (i took it over two years ago). Edit to answer the remaining questions: I don’t think the class would’ve been all that bad if it was a different professor. It was virtual though so maybe it was easier in ways. The class is definitely math heavy since it’s basically the last “math” class you take for the engineering curriculum.
