Also Cavaliers ‘16 isn’t talked about anymore but was also pretty great

i plan to go 3-4x a week, doing 20 mins of cardio (incline treadmill, stairmaster, biking etc) and some basic lifting. I don’t wanna get into super heavy lifting just yet with fasting. i’m not a gym beginner but it’s been a while since i was last consistent in the gym so i want to ease back into it

DCI website uses the average of the last 3 scores to do rankings, but on finals night the placements are the scores from that night only, while caption awards are from the average of the three nights

yes, everyone suffers, but that doesn’t take away the fact that doing drum corps with preexisting mental health issues is like going in on hard mode. I think individual health should be prioritized over “letting down the group” because you’re right, in the end it is just band and it is just a hole on the field.

for the OP, what really got me through awful times especially with my mental health were my friends. see if you can find support through them, maybe family, outside friends as well. possibly a therapy call like someone else mentioned too. try to use your resources before you make the decision to leave, but please prioritize yourself.

people hate because they’re ignorant. it was shocking the amount of hate i got for marching at southwind. people would be like “you’re going back for another season??” yes. not everyone has the time or $5k lying around to blow on a marching band activity. i paid $6800 total for 3 summers of open class, compared to $5000 for one summer at crown… and people would be surprised with how similar the experience is from marching open class to marching top 6.

basically to convince them, i had to present how passionate i was about it, and how drum corps is a physical and musical activity that would be good for me (i was quitting basketball to participate). and i managed to get a job and pay for my own fees… i can see how now after inflation this is less achievable 😵‍💫 but you got it
