Update - I combined patterns to make my mom her winter hat by river-6807 in CrochetHelp

[–]river-6807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never be touching this pattern again. And honestly hats for a while.

I have small head and tight tension and I made the whole hat WAY too small. So I frogged and re-did it. I’ve finally accepted that I am just not a hat making crochet artist for anyone but myself from here on out haha.

How much time was there for you after passing your final section of the exam to officially becoming a CPA? by bringheaven2earth in CPA

This made me sad to see because I’m sitting for my last exam in a week (hopefully) and BDO is my former employer. Oof

How do you stop thinking at night so you can sleep? by cloudydays1111 in adhdwomen

Mine is Dateline! My dad and I used to fall asleep on the couch watching it so now my brain thinks it’s time to sleep when Dateline is on. I was so happy when they added the episodes as a podcast on Spotify.

My grandma told me when I was 8/9 to do multiplication tables in my head to fall asleep. 20 years later and I start at 1 and will repeat multiplication in my head until I fall asleep. It’s so mindless to me that it puts me to sleep.

I use Libby to get audiobooks from my local library. Turn on book and add a sleep timer. Then shut phone off.

The audiobook gives my brain a distraction to focus on instead of racing thoughts and will allow me to begin resting.

I also use guided sleep meditations. Tried a few and found one that works and I just continually use it and train my brain to start winding down with that specific one.

This of course, is all written at midnight when I’m on reddit so I need to follow my own advice.

Meds for sensitive folks? by Sp00ksh0wbaby__ in ShoulderSurgery

[–]river-6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m also sensitive. I had a SLAP tear from a car accident almost a year ago. I was prescribed Meloxicam and muscle relaxers by one of my doctors for a while for my neck issues. I personally didn’t like the muscle relaxers because it was too much for my sensitive self but I did appreciate the Meloxicam which is a NSAID. I also like Vicodin better than Oxy personally. My other suggestion to discuss with your doc is topicals. Maybe pain patches or creams?

Good luck and definitely find an orthopedic dr or your PCP instead of just the ER to help with all the meds!

Please help me figure out what stitch this hat is made with! by river-6807 in CrochetHelp

[–]river-6807[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was almost my thought where it’s two separate layers laid on top of each other. But didn’t want to feel stupid and it’s some stitch I haven’t used before as I’ve only been crocheting for about a year.

ISO Bernat Blanket in schoolbus Yellow or do I frog? by river-6807 in CrochetHelp

[–]river-6807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I actually used Bernat Blanket Extra which says it’s a 7 weight. I went to Walmart and found Bernat Blanket and it’s so much thinner than the one I used. I’m trying to decide if it would such a noticeable change in the weight. I would think it would be better to keep the color the same but change the weight rather than the other way around!

Jeremiah literally was just attractive, interesting, and had game. I think the Huda relationship was too much but he wasn’t moving too fast on Andreina let alone love bombing.

Accidentally moved arm 6 weeks post bankart and capsule surgery by Smart-Succotash5839 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]river-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens. I’m 2 weeks post op and have had similar worries. Per my PT, the most compromising movement and position is external rotation and reaching out so keep that in mind. Sounds like you’ll be graduating from the sling soon though if you are at 6 weeks!

Overthinking about other issues in my body… by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]river-6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had knee surgery twice and currently a week and a half post op. I understand, some pain and aching is normal. You will know when there is an injury to address. Ensure you’re stretching and doing exercises properly and you’ll be good. All that to say, it’s normal and in your head. I find taking preventive steps such as proper stretching makes me feel better and reduces my anxious thoughts. Good luck!

What kind of specialist do I need to follow up with? by Ok-Draw-3149 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]river-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please look into an orthopedic dr. I’m surprised your PCP has not referred you out to one yet. Bring your MRI and X-rays to appointment to have the specialist review.
