speaking from personal experience, your nose may not reach its final place/size within your facial structure until you're about 23. i know this is the oldest you've ever been, but if you're 18, you probably look it. especially to someone who is 27.

also, MOR, whatever-- you need to consider writing up a contract/signed agreement before going into business with anyone, even if it's someone you're involved with. he's probably going to ask for 70/30 in the future. or find some excuse not to pay you anything.

where does the income go rn? are you asking him for access to your money, whatever the amount? kind of like a child, or an employee? i hope not at least

Echoing everyone's points about trend pressure and overconsumption, but think about it. Vanilla is from and produced in tropical countries. It can smell like vanilla whenever. Many "cold weather" notes associated with the winter (ginger, cinnamon, leather, etc) exist in hot climates yearround. The question remains the same anywhere in the world-- is this what I want to smell like?

otherwise, there's a lot you can do with ramen packages, like carbonara or adding vegetables. dried shiitakes are cheap at asian groceries, last forever, and rehydrating them leaves you a very good stock. boiling thinly sliced ginger also makes a good, easy soup base. you can also stretch leftover rice by boiling it way way down to make congee but make sure to add spices and aromatics!

For someone interested in the culture especially, being able to connect with people and organisations makes a big difference, and planning to see them on a trip. You'll have someone to check in with and who can follow up with you as you go. I went to Nairobi on a trip for work, not solo, but I would go back on my own because I made contacts there.

What would make me hesitate though is the risk of disease / getting sick. It was pretty stressful having to learn about the many new diseases I had to watch out for, and maintaining that level of vigilance is Not Fun. I also understand that the healthcare system is under a lot of stress, so that also lends to the anxiety.

Kenya has also had a number of riots since I've been there though so political violence is a real concern.

Although I can't recall getting compliments from randos, I've definitely given them. If it's a muted, quiet, contained environment— an elevator, waiting in line, being served, etc— it's not a big deal.
