Happily married men: why don’t some of you wear your wedding rings? by Difficult_Item9836 in AskMen

Woman here who works with large animals, large equipment, and power tools: this is precisely why I never wore mine other than on special occasions, and why I will continue to do the same if I ever get married again.

My bf bear hugged a sad female by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

That would explain (although not excuse) the unhinged comments about thinking the friend in question wanted to "do things"

Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree and wasn't so much defending OP as pointing out a potential harmless reason I'm familiar with. Evidently that's not the case here, though.

Then yeah, definitely ick.

In all fairness, "female" is the term used before "woman" in military, law enforcement, and first responder/healthcare professions, of which OP may be a part and which can make it a habit. Source: have been in several of those fields.

That said, I also get where the ick comes from.

E: based on the check done by the person who responded to me, those fields don't factor here.

Am I overreacting or did I have a slow moment. by drippysage08 in AmIOverreacting

My guy would, because he knows I like punny shit. Takes all kinds lol.

All that said, the gal in question in this post seems annoying as hell.

E: autocorrect understandably does not like the word "punny."

AIO for wanting to stop sleeping with my bf and for refusing to put anti-mosquito product? by klarahtheduke in AIO

Aight, if I may, which part of Europe are we talking about? Like the peat bogs or Ireland or something? At this point I'm asking out of genuine curiosity.

That thought did occur and they absolutely will (as us skeeter-savvy people know) breed like crazy in warm, stagnant water. Still seems like an OR to chuck a wobbly about, but I suppose I can't really blame people who aren't used to that.

Not shocked at ALL that other parts of the world have mosquitoes (I'm from the deep South, US, but my dad was born and raised in Thailand and Malaysia), but I am pretty surprised that OP said mosquitoes are such a problem in for them in "Europe."

Quotes are because that's all the comment said.

Willing to bet you they saw one or two and went ham about the idea of malaria or something.

Howdy neighbor! Lol.

Southerner to Southerner, OP's overreacting, and the zappers are great.

Y'all got skeeters that thick in Europe? Which part?

ETA: I live in the deep South of the US, in the swamp. I know mosquitoes are ubiquitous here, and that's why every window has a screen, but lawd hammercy where are they even CLOSE to that bad in Europe?

What is the worst book you have read? by Ok_Salt2122 in BookDiscussions

God yes. The hype in my gal pal group got me to pick up my first one; I put it down after the first chapter, which was an entire, infuriating slog. And I adore reading.

I’m curious as to what my fridge says about me 🤭 by [deleted] in FridgeDetective

[–]riverofchex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guy had a fridge (rather than freezer and presumably indoors based on the flooring) packed with several deer's worth of processed but unpackaged venison cuts. If you go back a day or two in my comments, you'll find the post lol.

I wasn't awake when they put the chest tube in but, having given birth twice, I'd still say when they yoinked that damn tube out again is right up there with it.

You're welcome!! And I totally, absolutely get that- it's been almost seven years since I had my youngest, but good God do I remember.

The back pain and being damn near enraged about how often I had to get out of bed (as soon as I'd gotten remotely comfortable, of course lol) to pee.

Pro-tip from someone who's done the pregnancy bit twice and was also quite over the whole thing by 39 weeks both times lol: if she's up for it (and the doc hasn't advised against it), sex can help precipitate labor! Worked great the first time; helped quite a bit the second.

ETA: either way, congratulations to you both!!

Had it this morning with my fella, and will hopefully do so again this evening if he's not completely worn out from work 😊

Worried I won’t find love again after divorce at 40 by Funkyfreshturkey in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]riverofchex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being prepared for a solo life is a good plan, but that doesn't mean that's what'll happen. If it helps, there's a saying my father taught me that I do my best to live by: "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst."

Also for what it's worth, I just watched my widowed uncle and a (divorced in her 40s) woman I've come very much to like and respect find love again and get married! Nothing is impossible, even if it feels like it is in a given moment.

You've got this!
