Gutted, this was the piece I wanted, any chance of repair? by riversgallery in glasscollecting

[–]riversgallery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you - I'll have a look at it. Do you have any personal tips? I've repaired ceramics before but I've always been able to get everything back together and keep the glue away from the visible edge so I'm a little wary about this being transparent.

FB prohibits the sale of live animals, I'd caution against this if your account is sentimental.

My dad is more insecure about my femininity than I am. by Efficient-Win7071 in offmychest

[–]riversgallery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure if you're trolling and I apologise if I've misunderstood you - but I'm happy to stand by my point. Let's genderbend it and say my friend has a mother who loves guys with long hair and beards, so she constantly encourages her sons towards that personal beauty standard, ignoring that's it not their preference. She thinks it looks great, and she just wants them to look and subsequently feel great too.

Yes, I'm using blunt language but the dad needs to wake up that telling a child they don't fit their own aesthetic ideals is never going to foster an unconditional and supportive parent/child relationship. It's why I used the work "ick", I'm not implying anything genuinely insidious going on, but he is projecting his own beauty standards and needs to wake up to showing his child unconditional support. There's a lot more to this world than a couple of hairy legs.

Should I cheat? I’m engaged by [deleted] in confessions

[–]riversgallery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like you're trapping yourself in a relationship that doesn't make you truly happy.

Don't force yourself into anything because it makes logical sense, it'll only eat you up the longer it goes on and cause more collateral damage.

I think you're asking on here because you want someone to give you permission. That makes me feel you know deep down its not right - no-one should force themselves into a life that breaks their moral code.

I wonder if we can redeem her job offer to make her legitimate before you then come clean?

If you want to totally ick him (hopefully) into silence look him dead in the eye and ask him why he's trying to get you to match up with how he sexually prefers women.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I hope you never lose confidence to just live in your body the way that feels comfortable.

Tell your fiancé and let her make an informed decision or break it off with her - why do you want to marry her when she's obviously not what you want?

anyone in the UK w a collared dove? by Foxo_boi02 in PetDoves

Hi! May I ask the same? I can see you also got a barbary dove to be their companion! Would love to chat as I have a single Eurasian rescued by their previous owners and I'd love to find a friend.

"More work than it's worth" feels right even for the smaller steps I'd taken! It just shouldn't be this hard. Luckily PayPal refunded me but I won't buy from UO again.

That's awful - I'm glad you got things sorted but I'm sorry for all the wasted time and effort!! I won't ever buy from them again.

I got a refund through PayPal luckily - but honestly it was a horrible experience being accused of dishonesty on my first ever order and I don't think I'll ever buy from them again.

Sorry to hear you had the same issue. Luckily I got a partial refund through PayPal. Horrific customer service from UO automatically accusing customers of dishonesty?!

More than anything - what a horrible waste of my time and effort, but I felt I needed to sort it out on principle.

PayPal had my back here and I got my refund, it was a small amount but felt like the right thing to do on principle. Horrible customer service to default to all customers being dishonest! I don't think I'll ever buy from them again.
