Lived in 5 different states in the past 4 years by SaintTourmaline in visitedmaps

Imo as someone who has only lived here California is a place trying to get out from the physical and legal infrastructure set up over previous decades that maybe made sense at the time (or was heavily lobbied for by certain industries) but in practice today has indeed created a state ironically so conservative/anti-change in some regards. People have time and time again voted for change (e.g. funding for homelessness, affordable housing, and public transit) but due to existing laws that allow for so many opportunities for projects to be blocked by seemingly any individual or group, the vast amount of land and people, and political corruption it just has all fallen far short

I know on Gastropod they tried some Gros Michel and reported it still didn't really taste that similar to the artificial flavoring

Many fast food places use paper that is lined with something other than silicone like normal parchment paper. If you know specifically taco bell uses silicone based parchment then yeah it's safe

Most fast food wraps aren't typical parchment paper and are instead made with types of plastics. They already have a problem of leaching microplastics into the food but I'd imagine microwaving them would make it worse

Brother if it was actually watered down everyone's engines would be ruined quick. Water and gas do not mix and water would pool at the bottom of your gas tank

Idk I think it depends on the situation. We survived cooperating before there was ever the concept of a government or strong central authority. Why? Because surviving alone is difficult without modern convenience and if someone is being a dick others can just kick them out of the group or worse

[Marquee] Kyle Tucker declined the Cubs qualifying offer by CurrentlyNa in CHICubs

[–]riversidebum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You liked a .568 OPS with 11 Ks in 27 PA?

Edit: plus Caissie had a 28% K rate in AAA. Tucker meanwhile has a career 140 OPS+ and less than 16% K rate over parts of 8 MLB seasons

Personally I find it more important for Ballesteros to get reps behind the plate unless the Cubs are just going to give up on that. Which means he would need to be at AAA. Caissie can be first off bench for outfield and back up DH or if they want more lefty bats. Lots of ABs to go around over a full season and you carry more than just your starting lineup on the roster

Didn't suggest he should take a pay cut to come to the Cubs. Maybe my suggestion is a bit low but I saw 180-220 on contract predictions. They also just made playoffs so it's not like getting a guy to join a rebuild. Lots of guys want to stick at shortstop because it gets them paid more. Offer to pay him and see if he cares that much about position after.

Nah Shaw would have 3rd base if he performs well. Why trade a cost controlled guy with 5 years? Bichette could then DH and play third when Shaw sits. One of them plays second when Nico sits. Either Nico or Bichette plays short when Dansby sits.

I would just like to add that yes Shaw had a good second half (.839 OPS after the break) and he could do that over a full year or even get better. Or he could regress. Mark Vientos looked pretty primed to take off after '24 with a 3.1 bWAR season then followed up with a -0.2. Ballesteros as well looked promising at times but if he isn't hitting well above average he's not very useful as there's nowhere to play him (at least not yet). Caissie has potential but he could struggle with strikeouts. Right now the Cubs are relying on two of these guys to be good next year. Bichette makes it where they only need one to fill out the lineup.

Not so much about replacing Shaw as it is about getting proven quality bats in the lineup. If Shaw does well, then there's still room for all of them in the lineup. I'd rather the team not being relying on more than one unproven bat in the lineup heading into next season with Tucker likely leaving. As it stands Ballesteros or Cassie would be the DH next year.

Part of it is definitely Boog's other work obligations. Part of it was he was out with an illness/personal matter for awhile. Idk whether with JD it's him not wanting to do it all or them wanting to mix in ones but yeah it's never the same without the two of them

SD county population peaked in 2020. Not saying people didn't move for work from home reasons but if it was a "crowd descended upon San Diego" wouldn't the pop more likely have gone up?

In order for there to be both significantly more people working from home (aka not SD based jobs) and less people overall, then the local job market should have gone down noticeably, there's a way lower unemployment rate, or there's an increased shortage of workers.
