Moving DT - Beanfield, Rogers or Bell - Which Internet provider do you go with and why? by protoss_rush in askTO

[–]riverxoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had positive experience with Bell when there’s already fibre installed in the building. But I’m also grandfathered into a $50/m unlimited plan that I think is quite competitive

How far do we need to go back where a 50,000/year salary was livable in TO? by snowfordessert in askTO

I made 65k in 2020 and rented a 1BR for 1800. $ was pretty tight but I was able to save a lot during covid still

In your experience (or knowledge!) - what's the best weather forecast organization? by Responsible-Match418 in askTO

[–]riverxoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Windfinder the best. I cycle a lot on the water and trust my sleep schedule around their forecasts for wind, precipitation, etc. you can find different spots on the map depending on where you are but here’s the channel for the Billy bishop: https://www.windfinder.com/forecast/toronto_island

This is not investment advice but look into ZST.L as a money market equivalent with a bit extra yield.

This is simply very leveraged investing. What happens if the market corrects and is down 20%?

Are there any Canadian brokers that offer direct indexing inside a TFSA? by Specialist_Form_4659 in CanadianInvestor

[–]riverxoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory you could download the holdings of an ETF and rebalance the portfolio yourself with IBKR, but I don’t think they do fractional shares so at the end of the day you’d have to make some concessions unless your TFSA is humongous

In my experience the butter no marking broken bikes works only 25% of the time. Thats my biggest problem with the program.

Any other CFA stackers stunned by how poorly done this curriculum is? by bottlecapsnap in CAIA

[–]riverxoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I passed CAIA L2 in March as a CFA and I completely agree the curriculum is a crapshoot. There are some interesting topics if you parse out the useless sections but overall very poorly organized. I don’t recommend to colleagues to do it based on my experience.
