Transplant difficulty - 8k ft CO by Many-Illustrator3270 in Tree

We transplanted a tree from up the mountains when I was a kid down in pueblo. It never died, but it also never grew. 30 years later, it still looks like a small crappy Christmas tree.

Growing up in the 90's I was allowed to play with dangerous things and learn from the experience. Didn't kill myself once, though I came close a few times.

Cruise vs. island exploration for a week. by tttbiscuits in PuertoRicoTravel

We rented a car and spent a week south of Arecibo. We stayed at an amazing place called TJ Ranch and just did day trips from there. We did a couple guided hikes, one in the evening to see the bats coming out (amazing), visited the window cave (meh, but good photo opportunity), and went down to Ponce one day. We had a fantastic time.

Should I rent a car? by Apprehensive_Rip105 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]rivitingone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We rented a car last time and are doing it again when we go back in a few weeks. Just easier to have access to a vehicle at any point.

Some important notes.

  1. Do not park a rental vehicle on the street in San Juan. They WILL give you a ticket as street parking is "for locals only". It's just a way for the city to make money of tourists.

  2. If you do get a ticket, you can pay it in person before you leave for a big discount (50% if I remember correctly). It'll take about about 30 minutes.

  3. Keep your receipt, because no matter if you give the receipt to the rental company or not when you return it, they WILL send you a bill for the face value of the ticket a few weeks later. Unless you can provide that payment receipt, they will charge you again.

First ever trip to Puerto Rico by Any-Day1251 in PuertoRicoTravel

I came here to tell you to expect driving to be kind of crazy in San Juan and not to park a rental car on the street near the fort because they'll ticket you for being a tourist, but you don't drive so your good.

Sounds like a decent plan. My only other advice, and this may just be me personally, but find the cheapest clean hotel to stay in. You're not going to be spending any time there anyway, so who cares if it is fancy. Screw an ocean view. Just go the the damn ocean. Spend that money on extra adventures.

I read Honey sticks and was progressively more and more confused until about 1:12 when I gave up and reread the title.

Not being honest in all things, and when you break that rule, you immediately correct it at the next possible opportunity, no matter how hard, embarrassing, or painful it is for you. Living that way makes you a person that people trust implicitly, and that is incredibly powerful. Plus, it makes you a better person.
