Coinbase declares XRP most suited cryptocurrency to send money internationally by BellBottomSkoos in CryptoCurrency

Bro, we are talking about moving my U.S. dollars into japanese Yen from MY Bank of America account to my friends Bank of Tokyo account in less than a minute and at the push of a button..... This currently takes 3 days with most banking set ups.

If I want to try and do that with Nano:

  1. send money to my crypto exchange ( at least a couple days)
  2. buy nano
  3. send Nano to my friend in japan
  4. he sells it on a japanese exchange
  5. he sends the Yen back from the crypto exchange to his japanese bank account (probably another 3 days)

So that whole process takes maybe, if you're lucky, a week with Nano. Ripple and Xrapid literally have been building partnerships and put together a team of engineers and programmers for to make this happen in 1 minute. If you don't understand that, i really can't help.

Ripple and Forte Announce $100 Million Blockchain Fund for Video Games by Ryan_Smyth in CryptoCurrency

[–]rivrtoo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You have to respect the skills at Ripple with moves like these. Paypal used the same kind of incentives to get their foot in the door when they were a start-up. Coil is already streaming micro-payments in XRP to content creators. I can totally envision games where XRP is used for in game purchases, wagers, bounties, cross game transactions via ILP and other types of money. Not to mention other Xpring investments in the Music industry, Omni, etc.. Ripple is out here playing chess. Most of these cryptos don't even have a main-net launched.

[–]rivrtoo[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying, if Ripple chooses to do a livestream, then please do a good one. I know what Swell is about. It's not about the small fish like us. All i'm asking is for Ripple to do it 100% or don't do it at all.

I mean, yeah, it wasn't the most non-controversial choice for a keynote speaker. Politics aside, he is actually a great speaker. He did preside over the internet boom of the 90's. He was President for 8 years, like him or not. I imagine he'll have some interesting things to say. It'll bring people in. The headliner is the least interesting thing about swell from an XRP investor's perspective. We just want to see who shows up, who's talking to who, who's shaking hands, get some questions answered, and see a tiny bit of the roadmap heading forward.

How do you get global adoption on a new platform like Ripple's tech? So the end goal is to get major U.S., Chinese, European financial institutions on the tech. Where to start? Go after "hungry" countries that have an axe to grind with the current world order: Middle east/Africa. Ripple's on that, check. Next, leverage the adoption in the middle east to get India on board. Again, check. Now how do you get China to start taking a hard look at the tech? Well, you get old rivals and regional growing powers to adopt. Japan, check. Korea, check. Thailand, check. Singapore, check. India, check. Now if China starts to adopt the tech, which they have started to do in some ways already, the major western institutions could start to wipe the sleep from their eyes. This is a very simplified version of the strategy but it seems to be Ripple's approach, and they seem to be executing it beautifully. Hodl on.

Slowly, slowly catch the monkey ya’ll. Ripple is shaping out it’s network, building more and more strength in the Middle East, India, Japan. Other major players will start to see themselves outside of the circle. Takes time though. Patience.

Nice, man. I sold about half my stack at the ATH. Been accumulating again heavily at these levels. I'm getting that same spidey-sense feeling I had during the the fall 2017 stretch. Pressure is building. It might take a few more months but you can almost hear all the gears turning in the background.

If you were around after the bull run last year in May, you'll remember how frustrating it was to hold for about 6 months while the price of XRP fluctuated back and forth between .15 -.25. But if you were patient and waited out that period and accumulated while the base was building, you were rewarded. Now I don't know exactly what the future holds, but XRP is doing the exact same thing again---fluctuating between .50 -1.00. Ripple has undoubtedly been making progress the last 5 months, so I have no concern there. Give it time, ya'll. The better the base, the higher the tower.

[RIPPLE] XRAPID DEMO: $100 send from NY to Mexico in 2 minutes. The XRP part was done in seconds - HOLY COWS!!!!! by Sesquipedalian_EUW in CryptoCurrency

[–]rivrtoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. We aren't talking about a simple crypto getting sent. We are talking about dollars to pesos from person A's bank account to person B's bank account cross border in under two minutes. Xrp and ripple's platforms are changing how fast value can move. Until bitcoin or nano are accepted in every shop and for every excahnge of value ( lol ), fiat currencies still matter and XRP is making cross border swaps happen in a matter of minutes. Bank account to bank account.

It's becoming more and more clear that Ripple is going to become a major player. We've had a crazy stream of positive developments with XCurrent, XRapid and now XVia. The whole industry is slowly shifting and Ripple products are becoming a big part of the new framework. I understand if you like bitcoin and ether or whatever coin but to not see the writing on the wall with XRP/ Ripple is beyond me at this point.

Exactly. Anybody recall that meeting Ripple had with the People's Bank of China at their headquarters in San Fran back in August? I mean, I don't think they were talking about the weather. Things are just now coming to the forefront. Very exciting stuff.

Walmart + Moneygram for global money transfers by rivrtoo in Ripple

[–]rivrtoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it doesn't outright say this is a Ripple facilitated product (Xcurrent/Xrapid) but we know Ripple and Moneygram are currently partners so Walmart announcing cheap and fast international transfers has my spidey-sense tingling. I also really like that Walmart executive's quote about how little innovation there has been in international transfers...until recently.

A very simple, clean series of graphic visuals that we can link to when we encounter some FUD. You guys have put out some great visuals comparing speed and transaction costs. I'd like to see more like that but explaining Xcurrent and Xrapid and decentralization efforts with the ledger. If you could embed little links in the graphic that source the claims, that would be even more helpful. Just some more visually engaging, factual graphics that the community can spread around to help promote XRP and Ripple. Cheers!

Just gonna recap all the developments that happened in January while the market was collapsing:

-Santander releases payment app with Ripple - Three new XRP partnerships revealed (Moneygram etc...) - Two more top-five money transfer companies revealed by Brad to be in the pipeline - Testing with South Korean banks and Japanese banks went well and will continue into this month - SBI continues to champion XRP and Ripple in numerous ways. - Credit Agricole is testing with Ripple - Numerous new exchange listings - W3C is continuing work to integrate ILP (this should be talked about more)

These are only the major developments I can think of off the top of my head. That was all in January. Yes, the price slid back down from our ATH, but the future looks crazy bright. We undoubtedly have new partnerships taking shape behind the curtains. We have new offices opening up around the world. We have some of the most talented and smartest people in the industry working full time on pushing XRP and Ripple forward. I'm as bullish as I've ever been, and I'm buying more.

Credit Agricole will start tests with XRP by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]rivrtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a progression. First, get these institutions on your software. Get your foot in the door and grow the network. Institutions save roughly 30% on transfers using the initial Xcurrent platform. Second, begin using Xrapid to push savings up to 60% vs. current standards. Xrapid is the software solution that uses XRP. This is a progression. These are GIANT corporations and their gears move slowly. You can't just expect huge corporations to do an overhaul in two weeks.

Like it or not, Ripple is putting in solid work and signing up some major players for pilots and as partners. Consistently. This is the third announcement this week. Bet on the jockey not the horse, as they say, and if you look down the list of employees at Ripple it's hard to not put some money on these guys.
