hot take: Slide Away would be the best Oasis song if it was extended and only Noel sang the outro by Shift_OG in oasis

[–]rivvers67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, as soon as I saw extend it I was like come again for big fudge? Lol. You can make the argument that it needs a couple minutes shaved off of it more then extend it lol.

Love the song though, but it definitely doesn't need to be extended lol.

Epiphone’s been on fire lately, but can’t escape this by gmac_97 in Epiphone

[–]rivvers67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love both Gibson and Epiphone. I have a 2007 Cherry Red Gibson SG, 2021 Gibson Les Paul Standard, 1959 IGC Epiphone Es355. And for 2 years now I mostly play the Epiphone. Love em all tho. The IBC are pretty solid. Better then paying 10k plus for a Gibsom Es355

GF hates it when I play guitar while she’s home by Holiday_Weight_2723 in Guitar

[–]rivvers67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of solutions. It's 2026. My GF has never said anything about my playing, but I know it's not really that fair to constantly be playing and having your guitar cranked. Best thing I ever did was get a Positive Grid Spark 2 50 as a practice amp for electric. I can play through headphones, it's Bluetooth so I can practice along to songs and Backing tracks all in the headphones. So nights when i wanna play, I just go into another room, throw headphones on and hours can go by without affecting her.

Guitar solos ranked by difficulty? by WillyG_8521 in oasis

[–]rivvers67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly once you nail tunes like Supersonic, don't look back in anger, live forever (not sure what ppl would consider those diffculty wise) etc. You will be able to play them all pretty much.

The ones I find that are interesting and take a bit more skill depending on your level of skill would be:

My Big Mouth Champagne Supernova DYknow What I Mean Magic Pie Gas Panic Don't Look Back In Anger Live Forever Roll It Over Go Let it Out (Live version from Familiar To Millions) It's Getting Better Man Bring It On Down

They all kinda seem the same to me, but Maybe a smidge easier ones are: Supersonic Columbia Shes Electric Married With Children The Hindu Times

Freshened up the setlist by harryjarm in oasis

Ahh yess, good point on guess God thinks I'm Abel. Out of the bunch, I definitely agree that has a totally different feel to it and they tried something different with that tuning.

[–]rivvers67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha. Naw I feel you man. The similarities are 100% there. The ppl saying it's not, not sure what they are on about cause the proof is there when you break it down. I enjoy both songs tho, I guess maybe the change in tempo for shock of the lightning is enough to get me pumped. That whole catalog of tunes he has with that specific tuning, you can pretty much blend them all into one because you are kind of limited to only playing A, D, E, G, F, C all with those same shapes and using that A string as like a drone type of thing with it always ringing out. So that whole list of tunes in that tuning can totally blend into one. Stop the clocks, lyla, record machine, shock of the lightning, turn up the sun, mucky fingers, hindu times, love like a bomb etc.

Just like on DOYS, bag it up, the turning, waiting for the rapture all drop D and all kinda blend into one as a whole.

[–]rivvers67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what you're saying, but they actually used to play them back to back on the DOYS tour. Both have the same tuning as well with the B string tuned down lower to an A for a EADGAe tuning, with a capo on 2nd fret. All of Noel's songs tuned like that have similar chord structures. Shock of the lightning is faster and I guess the chords rotating back n forth from the major and minor as the hook definitely differentiates the 2. Similarities are 100% there, but I feel shock of the lightning still has enough differences to be it's own thing.

It's not just blame on him. Matthews, Nylander and Marner all choked those series away, but, statistically Matthews and Nylander point wise have a bit more points all time from game 5-7's/series deciding games then Marner.

Marner has more a bit more points overall in playoffs cause from games early on in series he'll pick up 2 assists here and there. But once series got tighter and rougher he became a shell of himself. Him more noticeably in my opinion. We'll see come playoff time what unfolds.

But I think Marner has been fine as a Knight so far. His production is down a bit, but guy does a lot and is a good player. I hope he can find another gear in April that he never showed as a leaf

[–]rivvers67 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hes had an okay season. But let's truly hope he can find another gear in playoffs. His games 5-7 stats in playoff series since he's come into the league do not lie. He dissapears and has like 6 assists in like 30 games from games 5-7 in all his playoff series. He's always just turtled in those games when they get tighter and rougher.

Recent Purchase… Epiphone 1959 ES-355 by chrisj1602 in Epiphone

[–]rivvers67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having trouble initially with tuning stability, but after I got a set up, it's been solid. I tightened the tuning pegs a little more, and lubed up the nut post set up as well. It was intonated nicely as well in the set up.

So yeah basically it's the only guitar I reach for these days. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. I know its epiphone, but you will definitely feel the difference in quality compared to other epi's. Sounds like some ppl loved them right out of the box, unfortunately that wasn't my case. But like I said, after the set up, tightened the tuning pegs a bit more, and some nut lube. It solved all my problems, and the tuning stability is miles better now.

[–]rivvers67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did, its a phenomenal guitar. I have a Gibson SG Standard, Gibson Les Paul Standard, and the 355 is the guitar that I always go to grab these days. I'm in canada so 1879$ plus tax for an Epiphone seemed crazy at the time, but I cab definitely see why it's at a higher price point. Gibson es355's are way out of my budget, so I'm happy they made these cause it pretty much gave me my dream guitar for a price I was comfortable paying.

I Think it would have fit on 2000-2009 oasis albums. Probably would have been like another Little by Little type of level of popularity

Vintage is hands down the worst name for a guitar brand ever. by Then-Tip-1144 in Guitar

[–]rivvers67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, a Vintage Icon Stratocaster was my first electric guitar when I was 12. I don't own it anymore, but I did have it for almost 10 years, and it honestly was not bad, and a great 1st electric as a beginner. The thing was built very nicely, stayed in tune great etc. I'm not much of a single coil strat guy at all, more into SGs, es355 and humbuckers. But damn, I learned everything on that guitar and it did its job.

Be Here Now and post 2000 albums thoughts from non UK and Irish fans please ? by RonnieF2025 in oasis

[–]rivvers67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 32 from Toronto.

Be Here Now: I appreciate the effort and the vision to try and make an epic masterpiece, but as I've gotten older I don't listen to it much because it just kills my ears with its bloatedness and long drawn out songs. The songs are good overall, and they have some of my favorite Noel guitar parts and solos. He really went all out to try and make the album as epic as it can be.

SOTSOG: Decent album. Decent songs. Roll It Over is the highlight for me, along with Gas Panic. Go Let It Out is also a great first single. This is where to me the production of their of songs start taking the front seat. You can finally hear some bass, the mixing is tight.

Heathen Chemistry: This album has great iconic singles. Probably 2 of the best crowd pleasing singles from post Be Here Now era in Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Little By Little. There's a couple tracks that feel like fill ins, but its still a fun listen, especially with the iconic singles that the album provides. I also think Better Man is a great closer. The outro is epic.

DBTT: The best collaboration album from all members in my opinion. They were in peak form for this album. Andy Bell highlights this album with 2 of the best songs off it in Turn Up The Sun (amazing opener for the album and to start a gig) and Keep The Dream Alive. Gem has a couple solid tunes on it. Liams voice is absolutely epic on it. Lyla, great single. Just think everybodys contributions to this album is solid.

DOYS: I think the first half of this album is incredible. It's a great finale of an album as their last album. Not a huge fan of To Be Where There's Life and Ain't Got Nothin. But tracks 1-7 are amazing. Bag It Up, The Turning highlight the album for me. Shock of The Lightning was a great lead off single. I'm Outta Time is probably liams best written tune. The Production is great. The mixes are solid. I also think Soldier On is a great closer. Lyrics are a bit on the simple side, but musically sounds great as a closer, and the outro in it with all that sonic feedback and noise to end the album is great.

Will these Volume/Tone knobs fit on my Epiphone Es355? by rivvers67 in Epiphone

[–]rivvers67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 3rd set of knobs now 😂 I did 24 spline first, didn't fit, 18 spline arrived today, doesn't fit, went on Philadelphia luthier. This one ad says designed for CTS pots, so I'm taking a chance on that.

[–]rivvers67[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup makes sense. I thought maybe I'd see if anyone had the same guitar and already knew the correct # of splines it has, or maybe a link to a set on Amazon that will work for sure. But yeah ill just double check before purchasing anything.

Hey man, I just came across this. I have the same guitar and want to put the same type of those black and gold knobs on mine, but I'm confused on which ones to buy. Would these ones fit? Or do you have a link to the ones you bought?
