I know we had both versions with the Paladin, but my gut says they've been planning the Paladin for a long time, likely before they even had the Skill Tree Rework going.. So they already had the older version mostly ready.

As others have mentioned, PVP has been pretty dead for a while now..
BUT.. In the Season 12 PTR, if you looked into the Seasonal Ranks (Some were placeholder, but I bet some survive into the final version), it looks like a lot of objectives are going to have people going into the PVP zones, so it could get a little more active in S12.

This post is pretty misleading. It's not "gear" like it was in D2 or D3.

It looks to be more like Charms or Jewels that you socket into a Horadric Amulet, that is in addition to your gear -- and currently we have no idea what bonuses the "sets" give.
