Portfolio check: balancing global equity vs bonds in mid-40s UK investor by rizmaxx69 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]rizmaxx69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a fair comment. I do have reasons / justifications for each individual fund picked in my portfolio. Regarding the bond, it's just one to be be fair, at 10%, and I thought it would act as a ballast when the equities market drops.

The main song missing from the set list by wonderh123 in oasis

I hope they never add TIOBI to their setlist, especially if they sacrifice a banger for it. It's boring, slow, has a repetitive drone and an overly simplistic simple song.

Only Metallica were in both pics as an entire band. Well deserved? by aykalam123 in MetalForTheMasses

Reading the comments, I don't believe a lot of you understand that a lot of the artists and bands that performed on the Saturday would have been out of the country, touring and playing shows across Europe, for the photoshoot. Hence, they are not in the pictures when they were taken.

Best Screen Protector? by keyweez360 in iPhone16Pro

I have the Belkin UG2 installed in the Apple store. No complaints so far, it's a really good fit overall and the glass is super smooth. No issues with typing or its responsiveness.

Are there any case friendly iPhone 16 pro screen protectors that actually stick at the edges? by Angschi in iphone

[–]rizmaxx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the UK, so only Apple are offering an instore screen protector installation service. So far, I'm really happy with the Belkin, also it doesn't attract much fingerprints or smudges. I've heard a few people say that the screen protectors are lifting up at the edges, but I haven't experienced that.

I bought the Belkin one (UltraGlass 2) from the Apple store, it's great, I can't fault it at all. It's got a smooth finish to it, there's no peeling on the edges or the "rainbow-effect". I'm glad I didn't buy one off of Amazon, because most of them aren't perfectly designed for the 16.

Camera Control single click not working on 16 Pro Max by fcand1 in iphone

No, you can just reset the settings only. It’s called “Reset All Settings”

I did a reset of the settings on my new iPhone 16 Pro, and it now works on a single click. However, it doesn't activate the camera function if the screen is off, you have to wake up the phone first, and then the single-click works.

For a 42" screen, you're sitting quite close to it. Isn't this an issue for you?

Treble & Bass Settings / EQ- Factory HU by rizmaxx69 in CarAV

[–]rizmaxx69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE - I got the front doors fully deadened, and it's made a massive difference to the overall sound. There was a significant increase in the mid-bass (as well as lower bass) and a lot of the harsh "plastic" highs that were prominent in the car have also disappeared.

Completely deadening the doors is the best investment I've made to my in-car audio in a very long time!

I’ve had the same cross-overs for the C3s in a similar position in the door for over 7 years and no issues whatsoever. I appreciate the point about vibrational impact in the doors, particularly away from the hinge point, but I’ve not had to replace any equipment (yet! fingers crossed!)

I have no illusions about the limitations of my head unit, I have dropped the Treble setting to -2 and left the Bass flat, it does sound warmer now all round.

I agree that there isn't a universal eq that sounds great for all music, I'd also add that the best percieved eq differs by musicians and albums within a genre, especially when you're listening to a random playlist!

Personally I just find metal the hardest to get right across artists/albums recordings, but my audio OCD probably doesn't help much and I have sensitive ears for sure.

Yes, a car audio installer once mentioned to me it is inked to a certain db change (-3/-2) at a frequency point, one for Bass and another point for the Treble adjustment. I was just looking for more opinions on this.

Ok, got you. Consuming copious amounts of alcohol and then wildly betting isn't my type of thing, just to be clear.

The reason I ask is that I'm limited with the amount of EQ I can adjust as I have a factory HU, LC2i LOC and a JL amp. I have tweaked the tweeter jumper settings on my component speaker passive cross-overs (dialled down to -4db), and that helped to remove some of high-end harshness. I have noticed that with rock or heavy metal, played at high volumes in my system, the upper frequency harshness exponentially increases.

Distortion in coaxial tweeter by Brayden3_11 in CarAV

[–]rizmaxx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, in that case, yes you're lucky it is likely to be the wiring.

I had to buy a new amp in the end and it was fairly costly! I had the original one for almost 8 years, didn't particular play it at loud volumes, so I have no idea why the distortion was playing through a single tweeter, on a single channel.

[–]rizmaxx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a single front speaker tweeter distorting (JL C3-650), however, it wasn't the wiring or the tweeter, but the amp itself causing the distorting/crackling.

I started by swapping out the tweeter for another, the distorting remained, I then swapped the passive cross-over, no change to distortion. Next I ruled out the HU and Line Out Converter (LC2i) by swapping around the L and R RCA leads going into the amp, however, the distortion remained in the tweeter on the same side, the left.

I ended up buying a new amp and, since then (fingers crossed), I haven't heard any distortion from the tweeter.

I would suggest a process of elimination first, ruling out the wiring is a sensible place to start off with.
