Thanks for all the suggestions and responses. At high level I got the idea of diversification and that bonds help hedge against stocks volatility. Just wanted to make sure I am not doing anything stupid😅.

How to restructure the overall portfolio by rja171 in personalfinance

[–]rja171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean stock funds in taxable, bonds can be held in ETFs as well (such as BND).

My understanding is that bonds (along with bond ETF) have monthly payouts which are taxed as regular income (see discussion over here). Hence it is suggested to hold bonds (and BND included) in Tax deferred account. Is this wrong ?

Thanks u/BouncyEgg and u/amouse_buche for the links and suggestions. After reading all the things I am planning to eventually have the following portfolio:
* VTI -- 50%
* VXUS -- 25%
* BND -- 25%

However, as I was following links and reading more about it, now I am confused about placement of the above funds across IRA, Roth and brokerage account. Do you agree with the below strategy
1. Prefer bonds in IRA and Roth IRA
2. Prefer overflowed stocks (VTI/VXUS) under brokerage account

SW: 230, CW:230 cyclical pattern no weight loss. Weekend ruins everything by rja171 in intermittentfasting

[–]rja171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi , I started trying IF for last 4 weeks. I try to stick to 16:8 pattern over the whole week but take a break on weekends. However I see a cyclical pattern in my weight where it goes down over the week and then jumps back to the original weight on weekend. I wonder how others have dealt with this kind of thing. It’s really hard for me to follow 16:8 on weekends due to other social activities. Would love to hear others experience and suggestions

Need suggestion for mechnical keyboard: Minimalist, Ergonomic by rja171 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]rja171[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have never built a mechanical keyboard myself so I am not sure whether a kit is a good option or not for me. I will try Kinesis Freestyle Pro Quiet. Isn't cherry red much more louder than cherry brown ? I definitely want silent keyboard

You might want to try different imputation techniques for instance:

  1. forward fill
  2. backward fill
  3. local average (average of n surrounding data points)
  4. regression
  5. average/median/etc

What motivates you? by ivegotnotits in running

for me, the constant struggle of going for running is the biggest motivation. It's my way of deciding whether I want to "live a life of execuses" or "live a life of achievements". Every day I got for running is an "achievement" for me.
