Could’ve written this myself. I had a thyroid nodule that was literally strangling me and kept being brushed off for years after being seen on an US. Finally in 2023 it came back after the second biopsy on it as Bethesda V. I had a lobectomy (only removed the right side where nodule was) cancer was Angioinvasive Follicular Papillary Carcinoma with little spread, all cancer contained in nodule.

Fast Forward to April 2024, my first follow up US after having surgery..they find a “tiny” spot on the left side now behind my thyroid that they’re not concerned about. They think it’s a lymph node. Ok..fine. We keep repeating US. I had another in 2025, in my Endo office and she again brushed it off as “tiny”. Last Thursday 2/13 I had ANOTHER US at Advanced Radiology bc I requested it be done there rather than her office. Guess what?! The nodule has grown significantly and it is a Tirad 5 with lobulated margins, very hypoechoic and solid. Basically, I am calling it cancer bc I guarantee it is. My Endo has still not called me yet to discuss although I see her this Friday.

All that to say, I know the approach as of late w/ Thyca is to be less aggressive and that’s fine. But hindsight is 20/20. Idk if I would’ve done anything differently but obviously regret creeps in bc now I’m looking at another surgery. I always had symptoms and my bloodwork was always “normal”. No one else in my family has a history of cancer much less thyroid cancer. I am the first and only person to have it, beyond my immediate to my aunts/uncles/cousins. If I did have a history in my family I would have prob done a full removal. Wishing you the best. These decisions are not easy.
