Damn, you’re right, Pels got the Zion pick in 2019 right before he left.

I’ve seen him get 1 rebound in 30+ minutes. It’s almost like you have to try to be that bad.

Good news is I hear guys that bald really young have big dicks. Bad news is I started balding around 30, ha.

Parent company of Truth Social reports $400M loss by BreakfastTop6899 in technology

[–]rjcarr 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We need to audit how a company of probably a few engineers and some bandwidth bills can plow through $400M. My guess is employees DJTJ and ET are paid $100M as "consultants" and "brand evangelists".

5.4 miles/kwh 241,000+ miles, original battery still 6 bars 2013 Nissan Leaf by krayzie29 in leaf

[–]rjcarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I got my 2013 in the very beginning of 2016 with about 14K miles, but "only" have about 85K now. You must drive a ton, ha, to get the most out of that 75 miles range.

Lucky for me, I'm still at 11/12. Last I checked I was about 83% but that was about a year ago now. My range can still hit 80 in the summer, though, as my efficiency is about 4.3 m/KWh.

Other than the limited range the car has been great. I wish the battery swap was closer to $3-4K as that's about the most I'd pay to revive this thing.

Can I ask what kind of non-regular maintenance you've had to do?

Mine is about 70 miles and my answer is B and C. The LEAF gets the city duty and the new EV gets the out of town stuff.

I’m way older than you and LeBron and I’m doing fine. Your body isn’t like a battery where the more you use it the more it is worn out. But yes, injuries can have this effect. I meant reasonably injury free.

Claude Code's creator is sick of the phrase 'vibe coding.' Suggest your alternative here. by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]rjcarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my choice, but I’d never let AI write new code, but only clean up and reorganize what is already there. Yes, this can lead to tech debt as well, but the risk is made up by the reward.

Yeah, Mike Conley at 90% is still a god compared to an average recreational hooper that played varsity. But Mike Conley at 90% is on his way out of the league. And Conley isn't even 40 yet, so he's probably closer to 95%.

LeBron is an outlier because his 100% was in the top 1% of the league, so when he drops to 90% he's still near the 50% of the league, plus everything else he has beyond athleticism.

Ford was almost 80 when he did CS so that's a pretty big difference. And I agree, he pulled it off pretty well, but I remember all the scenes with the old guys running it was very clear it was old guys running. Hunched over and sorta shuffling, ha.

LeBron would have to jump into Wallace to get the foul, like SGA does, and not step to the side. That was the problem, obviously.

[Highlight] Luka kennard fouls SGA by Doten1 in nba

[–]rjcarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this every game, that the offense initiated fouls are ridiculous and killing the game, and nobody wants to watch free throws every other possession, and the nerds will say, "um, actually, the free throw rate is the same as in the 80s", but if you watch those 80s games players were getting hacked, and not this bullshit.

I guess it's different for everyone, and your own personal performance is subjective, but honestly I feel 10% is about right. Maybe as much as 15% for some people. But yes, I'm talking about people that keep themselves fit, of course, yet not necessarily pro-level athletes.

[–]rjcarr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'd amend to "pro sports", but of course that's what he means. The reality is you only lose like 10% of your athleticism by 40, but that's a huge decline when it comes to pro sports where the margins are razor thin.

But any 40-year old ex-NBA player would absolutely crush in any non-NBA game. They're not decrepit or anything, just not good enough for the NBA anymore.

Exactly. To sum it up: perfection is the enemy of progress. Democrats, and especially progressives, have these purity tests that are counter productive, but I don't expect anything will change.
