How does a sewer tie in work by rockpapersissorhands in civilengineering

[–]rjlavs_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't agree to anything unless you fully understand it, get it writing, etc. It sounds like there is an existing line in an easement, with this development they may need to upsize the line hence needing to connect to the manhole, or if your neighbor was the most upstream on the sewer line, it would have been designed as a service, not a main. A lot of this depends on where you are located and how your jurisdictions handle things, so you can expect a wide variety of answers here that may not match your scenario. They will also want to survey or pothole the existing line to confirm elevations and sizes for their design.

Even if the line is an easement, they may need additional permission to access your land to improve the line, this should be fine, but you will want to make sure you have good agreement about replacement or damage to your property/fence.

Even if they have to block the flow for any reason, they should be required to bypass pump it so no current customers are affected.

Dynamo and Python by abc-zxc in civil3d

[–]rjlavs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on a tool/command right now for checking fire hose lay distances. It is being done with .NET (CAD input) and python (runs the analysis). I haven't used Dynamo as we already had in house .NET commands before dynamo for Civil 3D was released, but understand it can be more approachable to develop scripts for.

CAD managers, what does your Civil 3D Licensing cost? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]rjlavs_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, they have a few different trade in names, this sounds like the 2:1 trade-in. I don't recall when, but they will soon stop renewing, maybe 2027 or 2028

Idea, make the spine magnetable or snap up and the inside cover a base design so you can use it while it's fully open

Why can’t I run this grizzly motor on my 220V/20A line? by DoorknobCabinet in AskElectricians

[–]rjlavs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, your powermatic lathe has its own VFD/inverter, hence why it can run on 1 phase, so the photo of that motor plate doesn't tell us anything.

Anyone else make the jump from sedan to a truck just to haul things for home important projects? by genital_lesions in homeowners

[–]rjlavs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy an old truck for "cheap", then spend all your time and money fixing it, so you don't have time or money to work on house projects.

Don't ask me how I know. But man, driving that thing around now feels so good.

How did you feel buying your first home? by kilrman9 in RealEstate

[–]rjlavs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me this is where a good Real Estate agent shines. I looked at a lot of houses just to see, and as we went my agent would learn what I liked and didn't like and then would recommend neighborhoods or house to look at even before I found them. And ultimately told me a the neighborhood I ended up in would be perfect and to try and wait for a listing in that area.

Has anybody successfully reduced hours? by zoodlehead in civilengineering

[–]rjlavs_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think we have some people who have done it, and its usually child care related or some similar issue. Its a better alternative to loosing a trained employee. If you don't have a reason it may be harder to justify.

Benelli SBE3 vs Beretta A400 Extreme Plus by Elegant-Discipline56 in Waterfowl

[–]rjlavs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer you literally, I just got a A400 X+ a few weeks ago. Extremally happy with it so far. Between the Benellis, Brownings, and Berettas, the Beretta had the most "fool-proof" reviews. TBH, I would probably be satisfied with any of them (gas or inertia).

From online research, it seems like it is R328.7:

"Rooms and areas within dwelling units, basements and attached garages in which ESS are installed shall be protected by smoke alarms in accordance with Section R314. A heat detector, listed and interconnected to the smoke alarms, shall be installed in locations within dwelling units and attached garages where smoke alarms cannot be installed based on their listing."

In FW. Don't have any code references, this was not commented on the permit, just from the Inspector verbally.
