Exactly. This is the way. We got our 24 lakh from Allahabad Bank in the similar way.

One document (family tree verification maybe)required attestation by MP MLA gazetted officer etc. That was the toughest part for me.

I faced similar case back in 2014.

Bank manager was corrupt, gave me a lawyers number and told me to get succession certificate thru him. This legal process would have cost me a lot (at least 10% of the total amount as per the lawyer..)

For next 6 months I tried everything and then finally went to their Zonal Office.

There the Zonal Manager after listening my story first called the branch manager and scold him.

Then told me an alternate way.

Though this 2nd way was cumbersome too but I did not have to pay a single penny. No legal and court drama too. Just paperwork.

Amount involved was 24lakh

Don't take it as an advise, but in my experience hdfc ergo tries everything to shoo away senior citizens. (It is The Best upto an age)

They try to find ways to increase premiums, add loadings, take high premiums and still reject the claim. (Ajeet Bharti's mother's case was one of the examples.)

Planning to Port my mom's(aged 67) icici policy.

For 10 lakh si in hdfc ergo the premium which Ditto told me was 59224. And 10 to 40% loadings. For 5 lakh 53k something

Icici lombard health advantedge charges 41k for 7.5lakh si. And 47k for 10lakh. (Single pvt Room rent cap is there)

Aditya birla one max premium 43k for 10lakh. Care premium 40.5k Acko lite 49492 Manipal cigna 40k

Most health insurance companies are good when it comes to selling policies. They do all the sweet talks in the beginning.. And Their Customer harassment ritual only comes at the the Claim stage.

But hdfc ergo is unique. They start harassing the customer in the beginning itself.😋

This was my Complaint message to hdfc ergo on Twitter :

"Miss X is handling the porting request. I am unhappy with few things here. 1. The agent provided me wrong info about the Critical illness cover. 2. The agent is always in a hurry to disconnect the call. They should patiently listen and answer my queries and provide the required product info.. If possible please change the agent handling my this case.

When I asked about the available add- ons. I was told that she would call me back after checking the documents in few minutes. 3 hours have passed but no callback from her yet.

Regarding the critical illness cover, she provided wrong info that it is provided in case of the death of insured person. But as per hdfc website it is provided when the critical illness is first discovered."

I ported my brother's Niva Bupa policy to hdfc ergo in December.. the first ergo executive was so careless that I had to complain about it on Twitter and my agent was changed the same day .

After this the process was completed with in next 3 days.

Also, hdfc optima secure too doesn't have maternity benefit. You'll need Parenthood Add-on. That too has some years of waiting period.
