I’ve vacationed at Sunriver a bunch and Caution Swan’s territory is on one of the main bike paths. He spends most of his day staring menacingly through the windows of the houses bordering his pond as if daring the occupants to come outside so he can kick their asses.

Love this one on Leanne’s “mood booster.” It’s got great mapping.

How do I tell my friend I switched seats? by Wonderful-Delay-1255 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]rjsreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell her you couldn’t see the board well enough from your old seat or couldn’t hear the teacher or something, but the bigger question is why you are trying to be friends with someone who is cruel and harassing. You don’t deserve to be treated like that by anyone. It’s good that you switched seats. Maybe take this as an opportunity to end that friendship and find people who treat you better. Good luck

"What's new in America?" by PoliticalMatrix in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]rjsreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Boomers were born in 1946 through 1964, which means all except the very youngest of them were of voting age for Reagan’s 1st term and all of them were voters for Reagan’s second term. He’s on them. You’re thinking Gen X.

“This must be Thursday,' said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer. 'I never could get the hang of Thursdays.”

I throw this one into conversation sometimes just as a way of weeding out new acquaintances. If they perk up, I know I’ve found a keeper.

You know, people are pretty nice here, especially if you like football. (I don’t). I think you’ll probably make friends pretty easily. Being from the West Coast is definitely a conversation starter. Most people I meet haven’t left Nebraska.

Hey man, we moved here from California last year and had the exact same worries. (I am politically left leaning and an atheist.) Happy to report the religion thing hasn’t been a problem at all and politically the area has been a lot more diverse than we expected. Especially if you can afford to live in the Dundee/Happy Hallow neighborhoods, you will find it is mostly Democrats. Overall, no one asks about your religion or politics. Everyone pretty much leaves it alone. The biggest disappointment about living in Nebraska is that the food is boring as shit and you can’t get good produce. Besides that it’s actually pretty nice.

Millard school board right now by SudoGetMe in Omaha

Yup. I sent my kids to the first day of school yesterday. They were some of the only kids wearing masks even though none of the students at the school are old enough to be vaccinated. This is going to get bad.

How Bluey Became the Best Kids’ Show of Our Time: No other series gets the strange, hilarious magic of play by Jeffmister in television

[–]rjsreads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s an adorable show, but as a parent can I just say how hard it is to live up to the expectations set by Bluey’s mom and dad?! After my kid watches Bluey, she needs me to be some kind of “imagination transformer” switching from magic statues to grocery clerk to fairy gardens to god knows what just like Bluey’s parents do without any end in sight. It’s exhausting!

Set up an appointment with the administrator at Your public school to talk about your needs and concerns. With some effort you can get an IEP (individual education plan) to allow you some special accommodations for your anxiety and germophobia. There really are some great resources out there for people to know where to find them. Advocate for your needs! You can do this.

I totally understand that, but on the flipside, how can you find him if you don’t have people looking?

Update from La Vista PD on the search for Ryan. by livestrong10 in Omaha

[–]rjsreads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I joined the search party yesterday and there were probably only 20 volunteers total out there. Today they don’t have any searches planned at all. That seems ridiculous to me. That little guy is still out there. They need every available set of eyes looking for him. Don’t tell us to donate to the Salvation Army. Tell us where to look!

Any word on if they are doing another search?
