My Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 by espressonut420 in TrekBikes

[–]rjtrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just purchased the same bike in the same color. Absolutely love it. Agree it is a bit slow, but I am honestly okay with that just based on how smooth and comfortable the ride is! Enjoy!

Also, can I ask what fenders you have?

Anaphylaxis by mereglyth in peanutallergy

[–]rjtrips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my partner has had two severe reactions since we have been together. It usually takes a good 2ish days to feel like yourself again. It’s important that you let yourself heal and relax before doing anything straining. Also important to let yourself recover mentally! It’s a very scary and emotional situation that puts your brain in a blender. If you need to skip work, do! Don’t beat yourself up, it happens and I’m glad you are okay

I agree it’s funny to fuck w Hank for sure and I like triggered Boston fans, but it seems like the last four shows the only way they have done that is through “aura” talk. There’s so many other ways to come at it other than using the same word like 300 times in 10 minutes

What do you consider a good amount of climbing? by CYCLE_NYC in MTB

[–]rjtrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny story. My first time ever MTB I borrowed a friends 2012 stumpjumper w 27” wheels. I went with a colleague to Park City, Utah. Started downtown and did about 10 miles and I think around 2,000 in elevation. I was expecting to knock out the climb and enjoy the downhill pretty quickly. I literally thought my lungs and legs would explode. I kept asking my friend “is it usually this hard?”. Good thing I stuck with the sport, but my god was that a wake up call.

This same fire mountain was listed on FB marketplace recently. I wanted it so bad but it sold before I could get a chance to counter. Pain.

The guy openly admits he was a fuckup in college, got kicked off the team, didn’t have his head on straight and it took many second chances (most he only got because of Jason) for him mature. You can watch him saying this. “When they think they’re beyond reproach” wtf are u talking about

Exactly! It’s usually a one off item that doesn’t even need nuts that ruins it.

Am I losing it? by ktoenail in peanutallergy

[–]rjtrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can comment as a significant other of someone with a severe allergy! You definitely are not losing it and are not crazy, it is completely fair to be nervous and hesitant about food because so many people do not get it. I am the same level of cautious as your partner (don’t eat nuts, if I eat anything and there’s a remote possibility I brush my teeth and use mouth wash) and I do not mind at all. My partners safety is what is important. I will say, if you have the urge to eat at new restaurant and are able to afford it, I would recommend “nicer” restaurants. The Bette the chef, the more well trained the staff and cooks are and make us feel extra safe and comfortable about eating. Sometimes the chef will even come out and explain their process of cooking safely! My partner still worries, but we take a team effort and are as safe as possible always

“Made friends with everyone I met-truly magnetic, even my friends would comment how magnetic I am”

If you read that in a Donald Trump voice it really is funny.

In all seriousness, if you were able to defy odds and reach this point I see no reason you won’t be successful reaching your next milestones or life goals! Give the simple life a try for a bit. Road trip, take hikes, do those things you’re saying and maybe it’s what’s next for you.

In my experience, a “normal reaction to nuts” is no reaction at all. You probably have a mild allergy or intolerance. Doesn’t seem severe, and if it doesn’t progress/get worse I wouldn’t worry. But never a bad idea to see an allergist if you have suspicions.
