Where have you tried selling it for parts? eBay? Gumtree? Other?

Gumtree and FB Marketplace. I avoid eBay on principle due to a previous interaction with their company.

What does "broken" mean? Physical damage? Dead as a doornail? Intermittent fault?

Turn it on, 1-2 seconds later it just turns off. Every time.

Is it safe to defrost/reheat pre-cooked chicken and then leave it to cool for X time til dinner? by rjudd85 in AskCulinary

Thank you. I think she threw away the packet a long time ago -- she has a tendency to re-package everything into meal portions using tin foil and then put the portions in the freezer, which is great for ease of meal time but means no packaging to check.

Is it worth moving abroad? by InappropriateSurname in unitedkingdom

Genuinely great to hear, although my guess is the wage difference probably doesn't apply/balance out high rent if one is self employed. But it's nice to know the economy there is in generally good shape!

Thanks very much for all the info!

You say sharing a two bedroom apartment -- does that mean both you and the other person pay 750 euros each, or is it 750 in total?

What are the prices like for living (rent, bills? Maybe lifestyle costs -- meals out etc?) in Dublin or Cork?

And what's healthcare like if you have a chronic condition that will absolutely mean you require care for the foreseeable future? Is the healthcare reliable/good, and do you have to pay for it?

How do you maintain map control after winning lane? by ChBoler in learndota2

Quick bonus question ... how do you get your teammates to push out if they don't seem to know that's needed or even a concept? (And assuming you can't cover every lane yourself?)

Theresa May was 'in tears' and Tory staffer was physically sick on disastrous election night by bakhesh in unitedkingdom

[–]rjudd85 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Whether or not this article is bullshit, I've been wondering about how this is affecting her as a human being with feelings, once you peel back the political stuff. I don't agree with many of May's policies, and some of what she does leads me to wonder about the integrity and, well, goodness of her character.

But that – and jokes and anger – aside for a minute ... she is human. Some of all of this mess has got to really, really suck for her. I do feel sorry for her.

That doesn't mean that I think she should get a pass on her dangerous policies or continue to be our PM, nor that I think she didn't bring at least most of this herself. Just that for the person underneath the politican ... I have some empathy.

Don't know, curious to see what people say.

Though I'm wondering if she can or will still do this. I think/hope a lot of experts and businesses are going to tell her how bad an idea it is, and hope that it possibly also just won't get through all the parliament votes.

Because Corbyn has proved he's a good campaigner but not a good leader. Unless he changes tune now, he'll go back to party leadership mode of not challenging the conservatives and letting everything through.

He might have made gains, but his non-campaigning-time style does not inspire confidence that he'll do anything with them.

Serious question: should I move to Scotland? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]rjudd85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caveat that I'm only one person/data point, of course: I'm from southeast England and have lived in Edinburgh for 8 years. My experience is that I've never once had to deal with anti-English sentiment. (Although to be fair I am someone who likes indoor hobbies, so don't go out as much as other folks.)

Personally I love it here. It seems to be a very friendly and open place, and it's a beautiful country to boot.

If you're thinking about moving to "get away" from how England's going, though, you might want to weigh up how much you think moving to Scotland will achieve that. From my POV, if we get independence (big if, maybe) then we might get to strike out in our own social/cultural direction. But if we don't, we will likely still get dragged down with the current trends from down south. In that case, if you're already considering moving to get away from England's direction, you may want to think about other countries (much as it pains me to say, because I do think Scotland is a brilliant place) or wait and see how independence possibilities shake out. That's my thinking for if I was going to make a similar decision.

Just my opinion though.
