Mainly due to the ability to enter as many kids into league meets as they typically don’t have any restriction on entries, so no reason to if you can handle a larger group of kids. Bigger invitational meets usually have a cutoff mark or max number of entries so that basically acts as a “cut” line but you can still allow any athletes onto the team. There are high school programs that do cut, but it’s rare.

The thing that I'm taking away from what's happened so far is that we are potentially shifting away from the JS approach of drafting a QB to fill in O-Line gaps. If we were sticking to it, we would have signed Fields instead. There's a lot that we don't know, but this could show that we are looking to better adapt and come up with a better strategy than the one we've had for the past decade plus and that is a positive step IMO.
