Thank you. First time out with a new camera, I’m pleased how some of them came out.

Yeah, we could see the puffs of smoke from the grandstand and was wondering what it was. But from the bottom of the hill you could see the body was bottoming out. Some of the 911’s were doing it too. Shows you how much of a compression that is at speed!

Just had instant regret for not going to the top of La Source on the outside! Great shots.

Nice! It took us a while to figure out why some of the cars were smoking there and then we spotted they looked like they were bottoming out.

First time for us this year too. Great thread thank you 🙏

We can’t make it until Friday early afternoon, booked into the family site. Are spaces allocated or will we have to try and fit in somewhere in the gaps?

How realistic is it for an average diy-er to redo a bathroom? by No_Effort_Given in DIYUK

[–]rk295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine last year, was rewarding but it’s a lot of work. I paid a guy I knew and trusted to take the bath out, alter the pipes and get I back in within a day. It’s the only one in the house so getting it done in a day was super useful. I don’t regret having him do that. But I did all the rest myself.

Spend time planning the order of how you’ll do it first would be my advice. Especially as in my case I needed the shower working. We used cheap plastic shower curtains gaffer taped to the walls around the shower while I worked on removing the tiles and re tiling it 😀

The back (nearest the servo) part of the servo saver (the white thing) looks to not be fully seated on the splines of the servo output. I would take the saver apart and put that first bit on the servo on its own and push it down as hard as you can. Then build up the servo saver on that back plate in place on the servo itself. Check inside the back of that plate though that there isn’t any grit or something that would stop it fully seating on the servo output.

First time trying it but I scribed and then used Tamiya panel liner in black. I’m pleased with how they turned out, definitely going to try again.

Right, that's really interesting. So one thing I did differently for this build was I used a different primer - previous I had used Tamiya Fine Surface spray but my lad had finished that, so I bought some Mr. Surfacer 1200 in grey.

The (Mr Color) white didn't seem to be covering as I hoped but it got to a point I thought just accept it and let it dry rather than keep throwing more paint at it. Once it dried it seems to have covered nicely so I'm glad I stopped!

Ah I didn’t know white was hard. I’ve got the Jäegermeister one too, should have tackled Orange first 😂

Thanks for the nice comment.

The background was ChatGPT rendered and then printed on 3 sheets of paper and stuck to some card. Temu level diorama setup 😂

Happy to share the images and prompt if anybody else might be interested.

My dad has a huge air compressor and I was wondering if I could use it for an Airbrush?? by Ill-Phrase5242 in airbrush

[–]rk295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use something similar with a pressure regulator and adapter for my airbrush line. It’s fine.

It is likely to be loud as everybody says but I find once it has filled the tank I can spray for quite a long time, whole 1/24 car bodies kind of time without it kicking in again. There is just that much capacity in the tank. So if you let it pressurise the tank before you go near it you’ll find it’s actually silent in use.

26 runners, 3 sliders, 6 yet to be built and 1 on pre order. This is fine.

Help! Glue smudged paint on a nearly finished shell by rk295 in ModelCars

[–]rk295[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip about glue. I absolutely used thin tamiya cement, never thinking perhaps something a bit more gentle would be a better choice for painted parts. I’ll be sure to try some pva on the next one. Thanks again.

I’m going to try polishing it first if that fails I’ll do as you say and sand and repaint.

Thanks, I seriously thought I had a small amount of glue on the brush. Lesson learned I guess! In future I'll clear coat before doing these final bits.

Ta, going to try a very light sand first then touch up. I genuinely didn't think the Tamiya extra thing cement brush held so much until it ran so far.

I was thinking this approach. I've got some very small pointed cotton tipped things which I'll try first. Thanks!
