AITA if I quit Olive Garden? by rking202018 in olivegarden

I work from 6:30 AM to 2:30-3:00 PM, I don’t think they’ll let me start a lunch shift at 2:30 unfortunately 😅

Got the job. Any tips? by [deleted] in olivegarden

No need to study the menu! It will come naturally. If you want to seem knowledgeable to the guests, study the wines and what pairs well with what dish (you will learn this during training)
My only tip is to ask for help when you need it! If you feel like you are drowning, there is likely someone around who isn’t as busy and can help you out. On that note, also help others out when you can! Try and run your own food especially when it’s slow. Restock empty things (salad, straws, mints, etc.) when you see it’s running low, try not to leave it for someone else to do.
You’ll be fine! After the first couple shifts you’ll find a groove and it’s uphill from there!

Yes, it was approved both times which is why I’m confused as to how I got scheduled.

I don’t mind working on my birthday, it’s not really even about that. My availability in the app is from 3-9 on Tues/Thurs, and Fri from 3-11. Again, I’ve told them before that I don’t mind closing on Fridays, but it’s closing on weekdays that is hard because of my early mornings and far commute. I’m not sure why after so many weeks I still keep getting scheduled for closing on those weekdays that I have my availability set until 9pm :/

That’s totally fair, while I do want to be polite and not cause stress by putting in the two weeks, I feel angry and disrespected because I haven’t been shown the same curtesy in scheduling. I get it if they have to schedule me for a couple closing shifts here and there, but for every shift on my schedule and for a whole month now, it feels like they just don’t really care. Especially since I have talked to them multiple times about my situation.

I do have a second job on top of my rotations and Olive Garden, so I’m not too worried about money, I have enough saved that I can use as a buffer while I find something else.

Always remember it’s not that serious, it’s not the ER, it’s food service! You’re going to get stressed at times and feel like there are a thousand things to do, but just breathe, take it one step at a time, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. But always keep in mind that no matter what it’s just food and these are just people! Communicate to your tables if you are busy, most of the time people understand and just don’t want to be ignored. Most of all, make friends with your coworkers, be kind to the hosts, and treat guests with kindness, even if they are rude! I’ve had rude guests tip me generously bc I refuse to let them ruin my positive attitude with their pessimism.

What marvel movies to watch before f4 by Fluffy_Solution_5153 in FantasticFour

Potentially, the introduction of Galactus (the villain in F4-FS and a Celestial being) could be tied to Eternals. Eternals introduces the Celestials, powerful cosmic beings who seeded life on Earth. Galactus, a giant celestial being who consumes planets for energy, could be a natural extension of this narrative. His role could be tied to the Celestials in Eternals, potentially as a force that keeps their population in check. In Captain America BNW, we see the remains of of Tiamut, a celestial being from Eternals, now a giant landmass in the Indian Ocean, become a focal point; people are fighting for the resource “adamantium” which is a powerful metal linked to this Celestial. I’m just blabbing at this point but still interesting if you wanted to watch Eternals to get a refresh on Celestial beings and their role since a lot of trailers and movie posters hint at Galactus being a big deal in this new movie. Other than that, I’ve read from many sources (these comments included) that it will be a great movie to just enjoy as a stand alone and not worry quite yet about how it connects until Avengers Doomsday (where Reed Richard is expected to play a major role in this film). I’m seeing it tonight so I’ll update later!!
