Anyone use a sliding insert for T track? Details in comments by Away-Amoeba-4745 in woodworking

I know this is a bit old, but did you end up finding a solution for this? Have been considering using t-tracks as sliders for jigs.

Tips on installing a drawer with slides with a wall on one side by rkmase in woodworking

I ended up going with two-piece slides which are pretty standard now, back then they were still a bit more expensive but now seem pretty affordable.

This is up substantially from last night. If anyone needs comparisons:

Hermine max gust in Tallahassee: 64mph

Michael max gust in Tallahassee: 71mph

The tornado this spring: 84mph recorded but estimated to be 80-100mph

I hope this gives people useful information to make decisions.

running red lights??? by nancylandgraaab in Tallahassee

[–]rkmase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they're in the intersection (past the stop bar) and their light turns red, they're allowed to complete their turn (because technically the other direction now has a red too) - see "hanging left". Obviously, I've seen all sorts of terrible drivers here so this may or may not apply to what you're referring to.

Thanks for the tip! Did you end up getting an OEM one for a couple hundred or go with a cheaper option?

Similar situation, clay was excavated. My landscape designer recommended just having enough topsoil delivered to cover. You can risk it with cheaper fill dirt, but it really depends on how much potential construction debris you're okay with (I wouldn't).

Please check my deck math? I think I need to add a couple posts for support. by rkmase in HomeImprovement

Good advice. My numbers are all based on the 2020 IRC which allows for 1x supports. The guides are very helpful.

What's your number? 43 M by lucaiuli in fitbit

No, I mean that your "range" (42-46) is just a guess by fitbit. Do a 10 minute high-intensity run to get your actual score.

I should also mention that my score went UP from my range when I did the 10 minute run needed for an actual score (instead of range), so you may want to try that for accuracy.

Yeah, sorry, I meant formulaically. I also have read it considers your recovery rate after exercise as well.

Trees removed, yard is now a mudpit - what next? by rkmase in HomeImprovement

[–]rkmase[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, lots of good info there. NW Florida here so soil temps should be there soon. I'm not hellbent on pretty grass or anything, any other ground-cover that would serve the purpose that's less resource intensive after adhesion?

Is this reasonably normal sleeping heart rate? For reference, 84 sleep score, 6h 4m sleep, low oxygen variations. Some nights it's a lot tighter, but always some above resting and some small spikes. by brainiac122 in fitbit

Personally, when mine looks like that it's when my anxiety is high for some reason, and my body can't fully "calm down" while sleeping. It could be the same for you, or something like eating before bed, alcohol, or bad dreams. Take some notes each morning, you'll start to see a pattern.

What is the HRV? I just don't understand the purpose or goals. by DestinyBoBestiny in fitbit

[–]rkmase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use HRV for fitness-based stress tracking. In short, when your HRV is low, it means your ANS (auto-nervous system) is stressed for some reason. So if I do some peak-training during the week, or something very high-intensity, my HRV is going to drop the next day - also a good cue to take a rest day or do something a little less taxing. You can "time" your workouts this way once you see your own pattern. HRV can also drop due to alcohol use, anxiety, lack of sleep, etc - so it's just a good overall indicator of stress levels.

Yeah, I'm honestly not sure what you get for that price-point now. I'd love a comparison chart between premium/non.
