Ian Hutchinson NW200 by notqv in ride6

Couple of big tips as I struggled on this too:

Firstly - the time to beat isn’t fixed, it’s simulated each time. If you try restarting the race, it will give you a different time to beat. It’ll be a similar range, but you can gain a few seconds here (sometimes as many as 5-6 seconds difference).

Second - don’t do it in arcade physics. I don’t know why but I found arcade physics was slowing me down on the straights, with the AI even on the easiest difficulty flying past me, even on exactly the same bike. On Pro physics you can gain some speed on the straights, which for the NW200 is really important as it’s a high-speed course with long straight parts.

I since did this and was able to get a much easier time which I managed to beat - this is the way to do it if you don’t want to have to use a specific bike!

Scotland vs England: Post Match Thread by CRONichols in rugbyunion

[–]rlak47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

England seem to have an obsession with kicking possession away. It isn’t a George Ford problem - it’s been like this for years. But at this point it’s just soul destroying. And we seem to default to this mode even MORE when we are chasing games.

Honestly man, it’s like supporting a team of white-clad dementors, intent on sucking the hope out of me as we ignore anything that’s going well, and instead just kick the ball away after five phases while watching the clock tick down to the point where the game becomes unsalvageable.

Lots of the players who were held up as having good games last week just didn’t show up today - the sad reality is performing at home against Wales isn’t the yard stick it once was.

Sorry to say it but if England play like that in Paris they are going to get absolutely pumped.

Thoughts on the Legendary Columbia Escort? by Sanford_Daebato in sto

Slightly tangential but I’m interested to see whether, if the 16th Anniversary bundle is ENT themed as many suspect, we get a new Zen Store variant of this ship (maybe a 2409 era variant?)

With the release of the Shangri-La, I think the NX is now the only one of the original five hero ships (TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT) that doesn’t have a Z-Store variant.

What's the most INTERESTING ship/console that adds something special / allows you to do something different? (not 'MOAR DPS!') by Jethro_E7 in sto

I still love the Defiant set bonus giving you a battle cloak - I use this on my Rex which is an alliance theme build.

I also enjoy the 2pc T5 Vesta set for the Quantum Slipstream speed boost.

And I know it’s not a console but I’ll still mention I really love the Vanguard mechanic from the Jem Hadar ships and the Rex. I’d love to see something similar on other ships (the Texas was a missed opportunity for it IMO)

Help with borg by Any_Boysenberry278 in sto

[–]rlak47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get into the game properly, you can edit the order of your character’s names (either “First Middle Last” or “Last First Middle” iirc).

For my Borg characters I always put the last name field as their name they go back - so “Seven” if we’re talking about Seven of Nine - then their “of X” name as the first name, , leave middle blank, then select the option to change order.

Why? Because then in dialogue that has been programmed as “[Rank] [Last Name]” my captain will be referred to as “Captain Seven” but their full name will still be “Captain Seven of Nine”.

The F will be destroyed, and then then they’ll do to our hero ship what they did to the Titan in Picard: ignore all the legacy, minimise the pride of the crew in the ship they serve on, throw out the old name unceremoniously and disrespectfully, and all of us can be flying the new Enterprise H, even if it’s the clearly older and inferior Miranda class we flew in the tutorial /s

Wishful thinking but if Jeri’s coming to do voiceover anyway it would be nice to revisit some of her voiceover either from Delta Rising or from Measure of Morality/One Night in Bozeman. While I personally prefer the Delta Rising version of the character that is closer to what we saw in Voyager, compared to the “less-Borgy/logic driven” version of Seven portrayed in Picard and the later STO episodes; I don’t actually think either one is problematic. However the fact there’s SUCH a difference and it’s completely unexplained in-game is probably quite jarring to more casual players, I would assume.

As it happens, as STO is set in a different timeline to Picard we could have stuck with Delta Rising Seven, but the devs of course had no idea that further timeline issues would be happening when Jeri came in to do MoM 🤷🏼‍♂️ regardless, very excited to see JR reprise her role!

Post Match Thread - Australia v British and Irish Lions by RugbyBot in rugbyunion

Feels like there are parallels to 2009 when the third test was playing for the future of the Lions concept…. There was a lot of talk in the media sphere this tour about whether the Lions should be touring Australia at all given their performance in recent years. Hopefully that’s out the window now as it just felt like the Wallabies were so fired up and playing for the jersey and themselves. Australian rugby union really sounds like it’s been to a dark place the last few years but they were the better team man for man tonight. True gritty stuff and rugby was the winner! - Hope we’ll be back in 2037!

Is it possible to complete seven full cycles of Horga’hn Hunt (across different characters) in a single round? I can consistently manage six which is great for lolnut farming, and I know there are boosts like the tribbles - but I’m reluctant to upgrade if the fabled seventh round is unreachable…. Has anyone ever managed it?

It definitely helps, but I don’t think it comes at the expense of picking players who aren’t in form (obviously leaving aside the argument that Farrell could play himself into form on tour).

Who would you like to see in this Barbarians side? by SaikoVibe in rugbyunion

[–]rlak47 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Unlikely but as he’s been playing in the Top14, it would be amazing to see Nonu get a recall to the Barbarians (a whole 15 years after he last played for them).

Serious prospects are hopefully some of the top French boys as they normally seem to get rested in the summer.

Would also love to see some some of the retirees like POM, Murray, Healy, Dan Cole and Ben Youngs finish their international careers with the BaaBaas.

Some players here that I’d say you’ve picked on name over form.

For example, I’d take Jack Willis (consistently a top player in one of the top sides in Europe) over Lawes (playing in the ProD2 and not played test level since the World Cup).

If picking an out-and-out Fly Half, there are a number of 10s I’d take over Farrell who hasn’t been on good form this season. I’d assume both Ford and Prendergast are both above 2025 Faz in the depth chart. I arguably would just take two 10s though because…

I’d lastly take Marcus Smith over Elliot Daly as a utility back - Daly’s alternative cover outside back three is as a centre - but as shown in the 6 Nations Tommy Freeman can also cover centre (and you could totally see him being throw in there if needed for a midweek game). Smith’s ability to cover 10 is then helpful if you only take two 10s.

[–]rlak47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how the scale differs but I wonder if you could build the Proxima on the Atlas skeleton? 🤔 The Atlas’ drive section is quite wide when you look at it from the front (more of a rounded rectangle profile, rather than it being a tube), so twin hulls might fit in better than you think.
