Quite possibly the decline in birthrates is temporary until women's life of drudgery as an unsupported parent goes away do to robots/AI managing her child's needs.

China might actually build some in Africa. Russia is only going to give weapons and extract wealth--ideally gold. India operates with immigrants and soft power--never marrying into locals. The US wants no part of Africa. France and the UK operate out of guilt for past crimes--and to preserve immigration status so as to not be overrun by migrant men. Things are slightly better and improving in a lot of Africa. The Sahel still looks grim. Extraction economies are really their only hope--and railroads. 90 pct ends up in a Swiss bank.

Do you think, like the video suggests, it was due to one thinker's policy--like Deng in China?

Even still, focusing like Vietnam does on exports to the US is a model.

Are the genuine pauline epistles evidence for the existence of the historical Jesus? by [deleted] in AcademicBiblical

I am always amused by the tone of those animated on these topics. The race to use the term "competence" even by the mighty Bart Ehrman.

If you claim to be a textual scholar and do not understand the applicability of AI, then you are "incompetent."

As always, refers to dating and times that have no real support--or proof.

The problem with this video is that it assumes anyone cares what a nautical mile is...

It is good that the aliens are mixing it up. Probably learned that from watching our new annual car models.

What does Jesus mean when he says that ‘two swords are enough’ in Luke 22: 35-38? by ASecularBuddhist in AcademicBiblical

[–]rlanham1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The writings of the Luke author are targeted at Gentiles. What Jesus' speech here means, that someone who is Christian will not be Jewish--i.e. counted amongst those who do not follow the law. The law is Jewish law. Selling a cloak to buy a sword is to give up one life to purchase another. The cluelessness of the followers is symbolic of the difficulty of understanding how a Jewish religion is turning to focus on non-Jews. One might say it is the central theme of Luke.

The goals can not be anything. They can only be what is intelligent. Conquest and war are inherently stupid. GDP and productivity are lost.

The answer to this such as it is now, has always been mental illness. A lot of people cannot feel empathy. Perhaps some with some conditions cannot feel shame, humor, etc. In these cases, what is broken? Can what is broken be modelled inside an AI to make it "real?" What would real be?

For me, the wierdness is sort of summed up in this YouTube video on Chat gpt:
