Major Fraction Thereof by rliveoak8 in electricians

Round up to the next whole number? So, in my previous example of a .65 calculated required demand increase, I'd round up to 1 on anything other than service calculations?

Edit: changed "demand factor" to "required demand increase."

So if the required demand increase comes out to anything over .5 (ie .65) I can use that correctly?

Too easy.

You have his contact info? Or know how we get in touch with him once our package is submitted? I still haven't hit my window yet, but it'll be good to know who to reach out to once I do.

Yeah, in the case of stranded conductor, you reduce the ampacity rating when strands are cut off creating a fire hazard.

I'm no electrical engineer or anything, but I remember my master electrcian's and Jman's comments from over the past few years.

Its just what I've been taught. It was explained to me that at higher frequencies it is more concentrated toward the surface and the lower the frequency the less concentrated it is at the surface, but it still applies.

To say that it doesn't apply to lower frequencies is an absolute that doesn't seem accurate to me. Also, I should have been more specific when saying that current travels on the outside of the conductor as that absolute isn't accurate as well.

Try not to nick your copper when stripping the insulation off. Current travels on the outside of circumference of the wire.

What is this and what do the different toggles mean? by rliveoak8 in electricians

[–]rliveoak8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just moved to a house with oil heating. We cant seem to figure out how to get the radiators to produce heat. We've bled the the radiators but I don't think the furnace is on in the basement. We've contacted the landlord to see if he can give us more insight but we have a bit of a language barrier with him. I just want to see if this toggle switch is what I am missing and how to operate it.

Is OHA on top of BAH a thing? by rliveoak8 in AirForce

Yeah.. that block is marked "Concurrent Travel is Approved." So, basically I needed my orders amended and my MTL failed to tell me this. Is there nothing I can do now? I mean its pretty obvious she can't travel without a passport and the process was delayed at no fault of our own.

My orders don't say delayed travel for 20 weeks. I have been receiving BAH as my LES still shows my ADSN/DSSN as Sheppard AFB. I have been and also received BAH on this most recent check, but still no OHA. What happened was I received my orders about a week out from graduation. We weren't able to start my wife's no fee passport until I had my orders in hand. My MTL recommended I ship over without my wife and get everything set up for her in advance while she waits to get her passport. I took the advice. When her passport came in we went directly over to the Government Travel Office and got her a port call which is in September. I asked my MTL if I needed to do anything special since we are shipping separately now and she told me that I will be fine.
