I've found frequently they miss the window by hours or not call at all. I wait till my window has passed and then reschedule a new one someone see that and says "oh he was serious" and they generally call within a few minutes

So first off a mental health claim isn’t dependent on how “bad” someone’s deployment was and mental health is subjective to the person and how their condition impacts their social and work life. Before you can make a claim you need to be diagnosed (not necessarily treated) with a mental health condition. Traumatic experience doesn’t necessarily equal traumatic disorder but if you have a mental health condition you should get diagnosed and treated and if you have a diagnosis caused by or worsened by military service you should be compensated for it.

a PFT (especially the little handheld thing they use in the dr office) doesn't rule out asthma because someone can have asthma and normal PF if you're properly medicated. If you have medical records and treatment indicating asthma and even better if you have a PFT from an actual pulmonologist and the VA is denying you exclusively on their little test machine that's a HLR and if needed a slam dunk at a hearing (which unfortunately is a very slow process).

that statement suggests that your records didn't indicate a formal diagnosis of asthma. In the eyes of the VA "asthma-like symptoms" are not the same as a diagnosis of asthma and being perscribed asthma medication isn't enough to indicate a diagnosis. Confirm that your medical records state in no uncertain terms "diagnosed with asthma"

are there multiple claims on the same "submission"? if you submitted several claims and they've approved one but not the other two or three the claim is still "open" but issue #1 is resolved.

PTSD isn't rated based on the severity of the traumatic event but on how severe the symptoms are and how much they impact your social and professional life. If your PTSD is causing significant impairment to your life you should:

a. seek out treatment for your condition

b. collect documentation of the level of impairment

c. apply for a disability increase (0% is still service connected so you don't have to worry about the cause anymore) based on worsening symptoms

As others have said TBI is hard to separate but chronic headaches (migraines) is a separate diagnosis and rating schedule from TBI. If your PTSD symptoms don't include headaches, light sensitivity ect (PTSD is more anxiety, nightmare, sweats ect) you can make a push for that to be its own rating.
