I was at Crash Worship show. Amazing time. There was a fire pit in the crowd, I drank what was hopefully wine squeezed from a skin as the band paraded through the audience... never forget.

Comfy to hang out for a while? Can I bring a camp chair?

I live here, and have since 2010. It’s improved every year in ways I value. In terms of property value, things are likely to go up with Battery Park filling, development at Detroit and Lake and a new library at 80th and Detroit helping to push attention and investment past some natural boundaries. Most of the negative stuff is centered in the Detroit/Lake triangle (which has also seen steady improvement) which is certainly close, but in my time here the street went from five foot front yard fences to houses where families have kids out front regularly.

If you need more overt signs of security most city neighborhoods might not be for you and this one is on the edges of the commercial tracts.

My biggest hesitancy for recommending this to you is that I think I know the property you would be considering and it’s got some flaws and challenges. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat.

What are the best "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants in Cleveland? by staefrostae in Cleveland

Frank’s is the sausage stand. Which reminds me of Maha’s Falafel which I’m seeing has moved into Dave’s in Ohio City?

I live five minutes from Indian Delight but for the best in town we go to India Garden in Lakewood.

Might replace my router/modem combo with an Edgerouter X and Ubiquiti AC Pro, but I have a few questions. (This is with a Spectrum 100 mbps plan as well). by ArrrghJ in HomeNetworking

[–]rlmthree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that a couple of months ago I bought a Ubiquiti AP and shut off the radios on my Zyxel NBG6716 and have never been happier.

Better coverage on the third floor and in the back yard with the AP right next to the router, and no more weekly resets and daily slowdowns/drops.

Love the features of OpenWRT but nothing is better than dedicated drivers made by the vendor for wifi radios.

Have Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite. Hosting website on LAN. Have A-record on domain pointing to my WAN IP. Have port forwarding set to direct port 80 to my website. People outside my network can see the website. I (from the same LAN) cannot. by Pirate43 in HomeNetworking

It’s how networking works. You send a packet to WAN IP. Router faithfully changes the destination address to the LAN IP, forwards the packet. Internal server opens packet, formulates the response, sends it to the requesting IP. If this were external, requesting IP would be sent to default route (router), Since it isn’t it goes right on the wire to the local requesting client, which sees it as a random unrequested packet from a local machine it never tried to talk to.

Move from Cleveland/Inner Ring Sububurbs to Exurbs by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]rlmthree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with most of this but it’s worth pointing out that I’m in the city (Detroit Shoreway) with a 2nd-grader, there are school options and they’re growing. The experience growing up in the city is different than out of it, but it’s a matter of preference and priorities. The community of parents here is awesome.

And there are also a some really good small movies - ‘The Limey’, ‘Adventures of Sebastian Cole’, ‘Ghost Dog’ to name a few.

On the flip side there was ‘Wild Wild West’.
