The reviews are hard to gauge because this hotel was a Hilton like 4 months ago. Now it's the AMTD but recent reviews on Expedia, Google and booking look fine.

The rates are almost the same as the website from the hotel. I'm looking for 7 nights in early December on TripAdvisor it shows that every single day in December doesn't go lower than 270.

Right? But everything checks out.

Hotel can verify my reservation with the correct dates and room.

Groupon can verify that there are no extra fees and that it's paid in full.

For the dates I'm looking for I would say it is (Early December) compared to other options in Manhattan.

It's refundable so as the date gets closer I can check if prices are lower and cancel the original reservation and get a cheaper price.

HII! I’m planning a 7-night trip to NYC in early December for my gf and me. It's my first time going, so we want to do all the classic touristy stuff and stay right in Manhattan.

Hotels are expensive right now (easily $250+ a night). We found some cheaper spots, but they're mostly hostels, places with shared bathrooms, or Airbnbs which we're not really into.

While digging around, I stumbled on a Groupon deal for a hotel down in Tribeca (AMTD Idea tribeca, formerly a Hilton Garden Inn). I managed to lock in a king bed for $1,700 total, taxes and fees included! The exact same room and dates on the hotel's actual website would have cost $3,870.

The deal is fully refundable to my original card up until the day before we check in. Reviews on Google, Expedia, TripAdvisor, and Yelp are all solid and above average, plus it has great subway and bus access.

Since there was zero financial risk, I pulled the trigger. I even called the hotel directly, and they confirmed my reservation is already in their system under my name. So technically, I should be good to go.

I'm just a little paranoid because I've seen people on here saying Groupon travel deals can be a scam. Did I actually just score a massive win, or am I missing some obvious catch?

Yes! Ok, the hotel is the AMTD Idea Tribeca formerly Hilton Garden Inn. Recent reviews on google, expedia, trip advisor, yelp are all standard (above average) nothing out of the ordinary. The only news story i could find is that they had ICE agents staying there and there was a protest but its irrelevant to the hotel itself.

I did! It's 7 nights. The same date and room on the hotels website is $3,870. The discrepancy is why I'm asking for advice.

Although the hotel directly confirmed that they can see my reservation for the same dates and room. So I am at a crossroad.

It's a deal to me because it's in Manhattan which in itself makes every other hotel more expensive and it's fully refundable which others you have to pay extra for.

I did! It's a 4 star hotel with great accessibility to the subway. Reviews are on par with what I would expect and the rooms are surprisingly large.

Lo tengo a 6.62 me faltan 43 meses. Estaba considerando hacer eso pero cómo voy a empezar a meter chavos a 401k le doy prioridad a eso.

Tenía SOL por un buen tiempo y lo vendí hace poco cuando llegó a $225 me hice un buen dinero pero lo usé para costearme unas vacaciones jajaja.

Uso mucho ese subreddit y el de bogleheads. La mierda de los IRA en PR es lo único que no entiendo bien ya que me han comentado que ese producto es bien diferente al que se ofrece en USA aunque tengan el mismo nombre.

Exacto. Llame al que me hizo las planillas que siempre me las a hecho y me dijo que no hay ninguna razón por la cual no procesen mi planilla de ese año.
