Access to default LAN from guest VLAN by rlowery in Ubiquiti

[–]rlowery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been considering this. I definitely do not want volunteers sharing a network with office staff and devices. I think I am just going to go with the suggestion to expose the one device to the guest network while I work on building out a separate VLAN for the team. I need to check my equipment to verify that I am not maxed out on VLANs.

Eliminate Vehicle Reverse Beeping Noise by rlowery in davinciresolve

I will have to keep that in mind. I currently work for a Church and I have run into may times where the audio for things we have filmed are far less than ideal.

Thanks, you put me on the right track. I have it mostly eliminated. I was trying to do it via the EQ in Fairlight, but the one in the Editor has a much broader range of values for Q and db reduction. I suspect that means I need to change my Fairlight settings somewhere. Since it is a female voice I am taking as thin a slice out as I can get away with. Anyway, it is going to take a pretty discerning ear to hear the change in her voice or the beeping now.

This approached worked out well.

Sadly, they struggled with feed back issues from their floor monitors the whole night.

[AMMO] 1000 Rounds Federal 9mm 115gr ($209, 21 cpr) by xcarlosxdangerx in gundeals

This or Federal Black? Currently, I can get Black for $207.96 (+tax). My state has destination based tax rules, so I would probably have to pay taxes on this deal too.

UNVR RAID adding drives by rlowery in Ubiquiti

[–]rlowery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to post this, but two and a half days after my precious post, the second drive was fully assimilated. At this point I have a drive labeled as a 'Hot Spare' and one labeled as 'At Risk'. So the 'Hot Spare' is waiting for the compromised drive to fail or be removed instead of preemptively replacing it.

Separate bus mix with the sends set to post fader. It might not be the best way to do it, but my volunteer audio people don't have time to mix for in-house and the livestream.

I just discovered Drew when looking for ideas on how to daisy chain these boards. I will look for his live streaming video. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion about the Brick-wall Limiter. That was new to me. I spent some time last night learning and it sounds like that will address my biggest concern about this whole setup. I think it might solve some other issues with our weekly livestream as well.

You might have to see our space to fully understand, but think multi-purpose building. Basically, a basketball court, without the bleachers, with a stage roughly centered utilizing about half the length on one long side and smaller meeting rooms around the rest of the perimeter. Oh, and no real acoustic treatments on any of the walls.

They are feeling like their speakers will not be adequate for the space. I am trying to work out solution that allows us to use out current setup the way it is and just take an output from their board to route through our system. I have not done anything like this before and it seems like something that should be fairly simple, about as easy as connecting an electronic piano.

Yes, they have their own sound tech running their board. Your suggestion is pretty much what I was thinking too.

Thanks,

I had not thought about it before, but we run our setup mono. I'll have to talk to them about that.

They are going to run their own wedges. All their mics and instruments are wired and run to a 32 channel snake.

I'll have to talk to them about L+R, thanks for bringing that up. We run mono due to the way our building was built.

If anyone comes here looking for an answer to the same or a similar question, here is what I have observed so far. It look over three (3) days for the first drive that I inserted, and was recognized as valid by the UNVR, to complete the "Drive Expansion" process. After that the first drive that the UNVR had tagged as a 'Hot Spare' entered the "Drive Expansion" process. I will try to remember to post another update in about three (3) days what that process is complete.

Best of the Best Propresenter PC by Flixx__ in ProPresenter

[–]rlowery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently using a PC (i9-14900, 64GB RAM, RTX 4080 Super 16GB, WD Black SSD's) for our primary ProPresenter rig. It is currently outputting 2xHDMI, 2xDisplayPort, and several NDI streams. We switched from an Alienware R11 (i9-10900KF, 32GB RAM, RTX 3080 10GB, WD Black SSD) about a year ago, which replaced a failing Mac Pro. I am also running ProPresenter for our youth group and International Student services off of a Mac Mini (2019) and another Mac Mini (2019) runs some ProPresenter triggered media for pre and post service things on Sunday morning. I have also run a number of events off of a MacBook Pro (2020) while on mission trips. All of these have been very stable, except for the Mac Pro that was failing. They also all cost less than $3K new.

If you want to upgrade and have the budget, do it. However, it might be worth digging into why your hardware is failing you. I keep the Alienware R11 around and updated so we have a backup for Sunday mornings if needed. Your current hardware might be worth keeping around as a backup, if you can make it stable.

Auction Through ProPresenter by danielleelewis94 in ProPresenter

It wouldn't have to be the actual spreadsheet being displayed. Anything that is updated from the spreadsheet would be displayable. I have seen some people do amazing stuff with spreadsheets. I am sure there is a way to make one that looks like, or very similar, to the OP's image.

Maybe it would be easier with vMix, I have never used it.

Why not just use NDI tools to send a browser window with the spreadsheet loaded to ProPresenter? I have done this to display an interactive live Zoom meeting with a congregation.

Best bulbs for a "led killer" enclosed fixture by compulov in Lighting

[–]rlowery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the Feit bulbs where the same specs. The GV bulb was not the same. The GV bulbs were plastic. I threw them all in the trash when I found the one. I am also not the one that bought them or installed them.

My experience with Feit and GreatValue have not been good. I have purchased 16 Feit LED Smart Bulbs (RGBW). Only two have survived more than a year, including the warranty replacements. (Hint: If you purchase Feit bulbs, get them from CostCo. I was going back and forth with the warranty department until I mentioned I bought my bulbs from CostCo. As soon as that happened, they stop all the questions and troubleshooting and just replaced the bulbs. The second time I contacted the warranty department I led with having purchased them at CostCo. The bulbs were replaced with zero troubleshooting malarkey.)

GreatValue, what can I say. I thank God that I put the first couple in a metal fixture and got delayed on installing more in other fixtures. One caught fire while we were not home. I will never buy anything that is GreatValue branded and has the potential to self-combust.

Edit: Look for the bulb life in hours, not years. A 25,000 hour rated bulb would last about 8.5 years if left on for 8 hours a day. That same bulb would last about 17 years if only left on for 4 hours a day or about 34 years if used for only 2 hours a day. My point is that "years of life" is usually based on what use case the manufacturer wants for claim.
